"Is it just me, or is this place a little... much?" The boy thought to himself.
Taeil had brought the two young adults to a restaurant called The Refinery. Jeno had heard from acquaintances and the media that this branch of restaurants was owned by one of the many Kim's out there in Seoul; if Jeno could remember properly, those Kim's were his parent's original target of engagement. The restaurant was beautiful, anyone with some status of wealth would enjoy bringing their significant other here for a date. Jeno grimaced at his mother's great attention to detail, even up to the point of restaurant choices.
The two made their way to a table in the corner of the restaurant; though, it's not like it mattered where they sat, their parents reserved the entirety of the restaurant. Jeno strided towards the table faster than Jiyeon, he pulled out a chair for her, not daring to make eye contact with the girl. She gave him a soft and grateful smile, one that seemed as if she was beginning to like Jeno, at least in his eyes it was. Jeno gave her a small nod before sitting down; deep inside his mind, however, he was cursing himself.
Damn it. If this is the start of her beginning to like me, I rather not. Curse my basic human decency! At this rate, practically everyone will fall for me!
"Excuse me?" Jiyeon asked, causing Jeno to snap back into reality to focus. Once the girl figured out she had his attention, "Are you going to order something?" She inquired, nodding her head towards the waiter by their side. Her tone and face were empty of any emotion.
Jeno was flabbergasted. "Bit rude of her, it's been like 2 minutes. I haven't even looked at the menu yet," He thought to himself. Jeno tilted his head as if he was pondering before he looked at the girl in front of him and then at the waiter.
"Uh, I'll just have whatever you're having," Jeno stated.
Jiyeon nodded and turned towards the waiter, "We both will have the carbonara," She said, giving the waiter her menu without a glance. Jeno gave the waiter his own menu, smiling at the worker. Once the young employee left, Jeno's face hardened in annoyance from Jiyeon.
Out of every pasta in the world, it just had to be carbonara. What does it even taste like again? I swear, the last time I had it was... my first date with Hyesoo. That's not the point Jeno!
After talking to himself in his imagination, Jeno faced Jiyeon, though she wasn't looking at him but rather out the window. The two remained in awkward silence, neither dared to even speak.
"What's your family like?" Jeno asked, attempting to make small talk with the girl.
Jiyeon turned to face the boy, "My parents don't usually speak unless necessary. But, I know they care for me. Besides, why need to speak when my brother usually does the talking," She stated. Jeno could hear in her voice that the mention of her family was a part of the joy she has.
Jeno nodded his head in understandment. "What about you?" He heard. Jeno let out a small 'hm' in question. "What about your family? What are they like?" Jiyeon asked.
