"Jeno! Great job yesterday, you killed it!" Another girl exclaimed, walking up to Jeno. It was Hyesoo's last year in highschool. She was slumped over her desk, staring at probably the eighth girl that had come up to Jeno, in just the morning, to congratulate the guy on shooting the winning shot at the basketball game yesterday. Now normally, Hyesoo wouldn't let a "congratulations," get on her nerves, she expected that many people would talk to her boyfriend, after all he was the golden boy of the school.
But the girl who was currently talking to Jeno could make her stomach feel queasy just by one look. She was somebody that Hyesoo, as of current time, could not remember her name for the life of her; we'll call her Karen for now. Karen was one of the prettiest but meanest people in Hyesoo's highschool life. And Hyesoo knew for a fact that about five people in that little friend group of hers had a crush on Jeno.
This wouldn't have been a big deal to Hyesoo if it was anyone else, she knew Jeno liked her, and she liked him. It was clear as day. But, Karen had the ability to make Hyesoo scared for her relationship. For about the past three months, Hyesoo had to deal with that little group hating on her, saying she was worthless and didn't deserve Jeno. Though she stayed strong on the outside, those words deeply hurt her.
So, the sight of Karen leaning towards Jeno with that sickening smile of hers couldn't help but make Hyesoo insecure. As classes began, Hyesoo had let her insecurities get to her. She couldn't focus at all. By the time lunch came around, the girl rushed out of the class, leaving her boyfriend behind. She made her way to one of her only female friends she trusted.
"Shuhua!" Hyesoo exclaimed.
"For the last time Hyesoo, just because you beg me to, I'm not gonna third wheel on another date," the girl said, assuming Hyesoo would attempt to convince her to once again.
Hyesoo shook her head, "That's not it. I have a problem, and I need your help, Shu."
Shuhua raised her eyebrow in question, she peered over to her friend's boyfriend who had just walked into the cafeteria. It seemed that he didn't notice his girlfriend in a state of disaster at a certain lunch table as he instead walked over to his own friend group. Shuhua sighed, looking back at Hyesoo. "Fine, what seems to be the problem."
"I- I don't know," Hyesoo let out, "It just feels as if recently, I'm a lot more stressed, and it isn't because of school."
"Is it because of Jeno?" Shuhua deadpanned.
"Wait, yeah, how'd you know?" Hyesoo questioned.
"Because I've noticed it too. You seem a lot more scared to ask him to hangout alone as you're always asking me to tag along. You get scared seeing him approach you at school, I'm assuming since you're worried about what other people think. And, don't think I don't know about how those bitches have been bugging you for a while now."
