𝟎𝟗 | 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩

Today was a Friday. The week had felt so long, yet so short as well. Jeno couldn't believe what has happened these past few days as he got ready for the new day. "What the fuck was going on this week?" He thought to himself.

Bold of him to assume anyone could possibly answer that.

He looked up at the clock on his wall, only to realise that Renjun would be here any minute from now. So, he rushed down the stairs, skipping a few steps to quicken his pace. He saw at the kitchen counter a note from his parents saying that they've already left. Jeno sighed, but nevertheless, he made his way to the front door to see Renjun sitting on the front steps waiting for the boy.

"Oh, you're finally here. Let's go then!" Renjun exclaims as Jeno shuts his front door behind him.

The pair make their way to school, talking about life. Renjun soon had to separate paths with Jeno as he had an art project he still needed to work on because in his words, "It's missing something." Classic Renjun, always never satisfied with his work and thought it needed more. Renjun waved a small goodbye to Jeno before heading off to the art studio, leaving Jeno to walk into the school by himself.

"Jeno!"

Again?

Jeno turned around, but to his surprise there were two people who had called his name. One of them being Siwoo, who is about to ask Jeno out for probably the fifth time this week. "Hey, Jeno. I was thinking maybe we could go out together? We could check out that new movie screening?" She asks.

Jeno turned his head to the left as he looked for someone, a saving grace to get him out of this situation. However, Jeno's luck seems to diminish by the second as someone he really didn't want to see comes up to him. Of course, it's none other than Hyesoo, "Jeno! There you are. I was thinking we could work on our project? That way we can finish the song up and also help you on your journey through self lo-"

"Uhh, I'm sorry," Siwoo starts, interrupting Hyesoo, "But who the fuck are you?"

Hyesoo turns towards the other girl with a slight perplexed look on her face. Her doe eyes opened wide in confusion as her mouth formed a little pout. "Oh, me?" She asks. Siwoo nodded impatiently. "Ah, I'm Ryu Hyesoo," The girl answered, "I just wanted to talk to Jeno about our project and everything."

Jeno nodded, "Yeah... Sorry, can't talk right now, gotta get to class. Ok, bye," Jeno said before walking away. He grabbed a hold of Hyesoo's arm, dragging her away as well. Siwoo stood there, slightly upset and angry that some random girl had the power to steal Jeno's attention from her. "What the hell is her relationship with Jeno?" Siwoo thought to herself.

Meanwhile, Jeno had dragged Hyesoo all the way to his locker. "Ok, I don't know who gave you that idea, but we are not friends. You can't just come up to me at random just to talk," He states.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I just wanted to talk about our project, didn't know you were preoccupied with whoever that was," She replies, waving her hand towards the direction of the incident that had happened.

The boy sighed, he shook his head as he opened his locker, retrieving his books from his locker before making his own way to class. Jeno peeked to look at his left side, only to see Hyesoo walking next to him. "Uhhh, what are you doing?" He asked.

"Hm? I'm walking to class with you. We have the same class, so we might as well go there together," The girl replies, her gaze fixated on where she was heading. Jeno continued to look at the girl, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion as to what exactly was she thinking of. Jeno refocused his gaze to where he was going as Hyesoo turned to look at the said boy, due to the gaze she was feeling fixated on her.

"So...." The highschool girl trailed off, "Is this gonna be a normal occurrence?"

"Huh? What are you talking about Hye?" Jeno asked his girlfriend of about three weeks, looking around the hallway as he casually waves to some acquaintances.

"Are you just always going to walk me to class now?" She asked.

"Oh, that. Yeah, I will."

Hyesoo looked up at Jeno, her face still twisted in confusion, but also slight joy. "Oh, ok then," She smiles, carefully focusing her eyes back onto where she was going before she bumped into a poor student that just wanted to get to class.

Jeno looks down at the girl, her hair slightly in her face as she looked straight ahead, her mouth attempting to hide a smile from the heart-fluttering words Jeno had told her. He smiled at her, his eyes forming crescents as he thought to himself how cute she was like this.

Brought back from her sudden memory, Hyesoo blinks a couple times before smiling to herself, looking down to her feet as she watches her steps. Jeno looks down at her for the second time, a slight smile grazed his lips at the slight deja vu he was feeling inside him.

"This is nice," the boy thought to himself, "Wait, no, it isn't. Stop having these thoughts Jeno!"

But, despite the constant yelling Jeno was doing to himself in his mind, he couldn't help but feel a sweet emotion inside him as he hid his smile from the rest of the student body and the girl beside him.
