2 Years Ago:
"You're kidding me. Right?" He questioned.
To anyone passing by, he seemed angered, almost furious. But one look into his eyes, you could tell he was broken. His dark brown orbs glistening in the fear of being left behind. His black hair was disheveled and covered his sorrowful eyes. Good for him, so she wouldn't have to see the pain that he was going through right now.
"This is just a joke, right? You need to stop playing with me, Hye." He chuckled, looking down at his brand new white shoes. Maybe if he imagined that it never happened, it would just become a dream. All the fear would become just an illusion of his imagination getting the best of him.
"I'm serious, Jeno. Let's break up." She said.
Break up.
Hearing those two words, Jeno felt as if his whole world was falling apart. The love of his life, the person he thought would never leave him, wanted to break off everything they had, wanted to untie the knot that he believed had no intention to break apart. Tears threatening to fall, he took a deep breath. "Why, Hye? What did I do so horrible that you want to break up?" he questioned, "Is it because I hardly go out with you anymore? I'm sorry, I'll try and get out of practice earli-"
"No, Jeno. It's not any of that. I just feel like we should end our relationship."
She stood tall and strong as if the words coming out of her mouth weren't a poison to him. With those two words, nothing more was needed to for Jeno to fall into shambles.
He couldn't help but let the tears fall down his cheeks. He bit his lip and looked up at the cloudy night sky, hoping for the tears to stop. After wiping the lone tears that had fallen, he looked into her eyes. Her beautiful brown orbs that once showed love and warmth, was now empty and as blank as a canvas.
"Fine. Let's break up." He said with as much strength as he could bring up. Deep inside, he had hoped that she would tell him now she was joking, and that she wouldn't agree with this.
But not everything goes the way you want it to. She nodded as a sign of agreement to his statement and turned around to walk away. After walking for a bit, she turned around, "Goodbye, Jeno."
And those were her last words before she walked away into the distance, never to be seen by Jeno ever again.
Once she was out of sight, Jeno couldn't help but fall to his knees, sobbing his heart out. He clenched his heart as he could hear it shatter into a million pieces. As the clouds started to form rain, and he could feel tiny drops hitting his skin, he kneeled there in pain. He didn't care if he was to get a cold, he don't care if people stared him in confusion, he didn't care if his shoes were to get dirty and he'd have to spend the next day washing them, he couldn't care less about the world.
Because he lost the one thing he loved about himself.
