***Jasmine POV 1st person***
I huffed as I scrubbed the desk and looked at Valerie standing on the tip of her toes dusting the books on the shelf. I wore a bandana around my head holding my hair back with a pair of elbow length yellow gloves in a pair of jeans and a plain shirt while Valerie wore something similar except her hair was in a loose bun at the back of her head and a blue bandana instead. we exchange a glance before turning and glaring at Ryan who was just chilling on a chair and reading a book. Valerie huffed and threw the duster on the floor and stormed over to Ryan.
"This is ridiculous! You are making two pregnant woman clean when you have a maid with too much time on her hands!" Ryan looked at her with his brown eyes with an blank expression. Valerie began to jab her finger in his chest. "Would you tell us about our family now! I demand you do! We have done quite enough work for you to tell us!" Valerie was breathing heavy while she glared at him.
"Okay." Ryan said simply and stood up walking to a door in the office and went in searching for something. Valerie jaw dropped and she began to storm towards him pulling up her imaginary sleeves. I quickly wrap my arms around her despite wanting her to.
"I'm just gonna choke him out! Come on Jaz!" She said dramatically gesturing her arms towards him. "I won't kill him. I promise. I'll just break a bone or two!" She said as her eyes had darkened. Ryan comes back out with a file and some other papers as well as a photo album.
"Here you go. I have only met them a few times so everything in here is all I have on them." He handed us the pile and Valerie and I looked at each other before immediately looking through the papers he handed us as he walks out of the room and down the hall where the many voices echoed through the house. My eyes absorbed all the words as I quickly read it looking for anything about our family that could hint to where they are. Valerie called my name gently and when I looked at her her eyes were watering with love. She turned the book towards me and it had what seemed like a family photo. Suddenly all the blank faces from my dream were replaced with detailed faces. Our mother had dark black curly hair and wide brown eye and moles freckling her face. She had her hands on the shoulder of a much younger Valerie who was grinning with her two front teeth missing and hugging a younger me. She was smiling and holding Valerie tightly back and our father stood beside our mother with his arm wrapped around her. He had dimples and his skin tone was rather light and pale like mine. His hair was straight and dark brown like Valerie's and slightly green eyes and finally there was a boy that was older than both Valerie and me. He was smiling while our father had his hand resting on his shoulder. I smiled at the photo and how sweet and happy they looked. How could a loving and kind looking people like our parents abandoned us? I couldn't help but think as I saw the love shining in all our eyes including our parents.
"We had an older brother..." Valerie said tracing her finger down the photo. She looked at me and I must of had an awkward face on and her brows furrowed. "What's wrong?"
"It weird... Us being sisters." I said.
"I suppose it is. I'm not quite used to it either. It doesn't change much though, we already saw each other as sisters, right?" Valerie asks with a smile.
"Well yeah but it's different when its by blood. I guess deep down I knew too." I said tucking a strand of hair behind my ear as I looked backed down at the papers in the file and continued to go through it as Valerie nodded in agreement. It wasn't until I had almost got to the end of the papers that I found the newspaper article.
"Hm, I wonder why Ryan put a newspaper in there." Valerie commented before returning to the pile she had herself. I unfolded the paper and began to read the front page story. It was a newspaper from 20 or so years ago. As I read the story realization hit me like a train and I cried out as I swallowed a lump in my throat. A house was set on fire and the children's bodies were not found. Our parents didn't abandoned us...we were kidnapped by the people who set fire to the house and killed our parents. Valerie looked at me worried and scared.
"Jasmine what is it!?" She asked as I handed the newspaper to her with shaky hands as I once again swallowed with a tear slipping from my dark eyes. Valerie hands flew to her mouth after piecing it together and gave a similar cry I had moments before.
"They were murdered!" Valerie sobbed as tears went down her face. I looked down and took the next newspaper that was made a month later. We were marked as presumably dead since no sightings of us had been reported.
"THAT WAS BECAUSE WE WERE KIDNAPPED AND TAKEN TO A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STATE!" I shouted at the paper as some tears plopped onto the paper from my face. "WE WERE SEPARATED AND DIDN"T EVEN REMEMBER EACH OTHER! WE WERE BRAINWASHED INTO BELIEVING OUR PARENTS ABANDONED US TO THE SADISTIC MOTHERFUCKERS!" I screamed as Valerie took me into her arms with tears streaming down her face. I buried my face into her neck as the doors bursted open to reveal Mike who had been away temporarily from us. He looked at the sight before him of Valerie and me crying with papers strewn about us.
"Jasmine! What happened?!" He asked with Leam and Lucas quickly following behind.
"Valerie!" Mike pulled me from Valerie to hug me as I felt myself go numb as I continued to sob and held onto him tightly as Valerie gets engulfed in her mates arms as she begins to scream as she cries. Her cries shook me to the very core and couldn't help but to want to erase her pain even if that means I had to suffer for her too.
