"Calum help me," Jordyn's breathing was heavy, "I can't hold him by myself anymore, there's no way I'll be able to get him up the stairs."
Calum grabbed Ashton tightly, but not to tightly because he didn't want to put him in any more pain. Ashton winced as Calum put his arm around him, taking some weight off of Jordyn.
They followed Tamina up the basement stairs and Jordyn flinched at how hard Tamina kicked the door open. Tamina held it open for the other three and as soon as they were out, she slammed it shut. They walked down the long hallway and got to the living room quick enough so that Jordyn and Calum could set Ashton down.
"Ash," Tamina snapped in his face, "Stay awake, I'm begging you to not close your eyes."
The fact that Charlie, Luke, and Wendy's bodies were all still there, made Jordyn want to get sick to her stomach again, but she had to find a way to make sure that Ashton would stay awake.
Tamina felt a tap on her shoulder, and she could literally feel her heart drop to her stomach. It was that fear that you knew you shouldn't look back, because it was life or death, but if you didn't you wouldn't know.
When she did look back, she saw Kyle.
"Kyle," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. She was kind of mad that he decided to come now, why couldn't he have came before Eva had killed Michael, why couldn't he have listened to his brother and saved Charlie instead of killing her? She understood that he had a personality disorder, but she had no idea those things stuck with you after death, or as a ghost considering that he wasn't even truly dead.
"Look, there's no use in trying to call for help, Candy cut the line, that's why you couldn't hear Greg on the phone," Kyle said to her, "You have to get out of here."
Tamina looked at Ashton and then back at Kyle, "Is there like a first aid kit anywhere? I need to help my friend, I can't let him die, you have to help me Kyle, help me do something."
Kyle shook his head, "One of the others took the first aid kit, Tamina they don't want you guys leaving.
Jordyn ended up taking off her shirt to try and soak up some of the blood, but Ashton's wounds were deep, they just wouldn't stop bleeding.
"He's gonna bleed to death," Tamina muttered to herself.
Calum took his shirt off and threw it at Jordyn for her to wear, but Jordyn used it to wipe blood off of Ashton's face, she wiped the tears that ran down her face, getting blood on her, but at that moment she didn't care, she just wanted him to be okay.
"Jordyn," Ashton's voice cracked.
"You're gonna be okay," Jordyn said, the tears brimming in her eyes making her vision blurry, "You'll be okay, we'll be okay, Ash."
Ashton gave her a weak smile. He knew he was going to die, and Jordyn knew it too. They all knew it, but none of them would say it. He remembered her, back in highschool, when they first met, he accidentaly threw a basketball at her face (luckily she dodged it) and then they became best friends.
Everytime she would ask him, "where do you see yourself in a few years?" he always said he didn't know, but he knew he never thought it would be this.
He always pictured her with him though, he pictured them staying best friends until one of them got buried into the ground, he always thought she would be there when it was his last moments, but he never imagined it the way that it was happening right at that moment.
Calum heard the sound of something, and frowned. He hadn't spoken, he didn't know what to say. He had watched all of his best friends die, one by one they had all gone right before his eyes.
"You're different," Kyle said, staring at Tamina. She looked at him and shook her head, not knowing what he meant.
"You seem to not feel any pain," Kyle said to her, "You saw all your friends die, and you don't seem to hurt as much as the others."
Tamina looked at Ashton and felt a deep pain as she saw him dying right in front of her. Calum was doing everything that he could to keep him awake, and Jordyn was sobbing at the person she loved dying in front of her.
"You have no idea how bad it hurts," Tamina said, looking at Kyle, "You have no idea how bad it hurt, watching you kill my best friend."
Kyle didn't show any type of emotion to this statement, he only stared at her. Tamina looked at Wendy's body and tears brimmed in her eyes. All she could think of was them, smiling, all of their adventures before they had moved into the murder house.
Tamina didn't know whether or not she would make it out alive from that house. She didn't know whether she was going to live to tell the story, or if it would be Calum to tell the story, of even Jordyn.
She always imagined her death to be early, not living until she had wrinkles on her skin and she wore glasses and read cute little books. She never magined growing old, she always imagined dying when she was still young, it was a strange thing really, it was just always how she pictured it.
"Kyle," she looked at him and he turned his attention away from Ashton to stare at her. She stayed silent for a couple seconds, not knowing what his reaction to her question would be, but if she didn't ask now, she may never know. "How many people have you killed?"
Kyle did not seem to be taken by surprise at her question, he looked at her and shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know, I don't keep track."
"I don't get it," Tamina said to him, "You said you were gonna take Cole's body so you could get life, but you killed him, and didn't take possession of his body at all. It's confusing, I don't get it at all."
He looked at her and chuckled a bit, shaking his head, "I did what I had to, you wouldn't get it."
She had heard that a lot throughout the night and throughout all the events that happened. Eva had said that same phrase, she said it about herself, and about him, now he was saying it too.
"He's done," Kyle said, and Tamina didn't know what he meant, until she heard Jordyn's piercing cries, and Calum's heavy breathing and stuttering as he tried to speak.
Tamina looked at Ashton and swallowed hard. He looked so weak, and his head was tilted up. Jordyn sobbed into his shirt, repeating the same three words.
Three words that she never had the courage to say.
Three words she would regret that she never said.
"I love you."
