Calum woke up to the sound of a couple arguing outside his hotel room, fom the sound of it the girl stayed out to late and now the boy was accusing her of things like cheating and seeing someone else behind his back. He groaned and looked at the clock, it was only 7:15 and he was tired, but he was so eager to start looking for Tamina, that he couldn't bring himself to go back to sleep.
He got up and took a shower. The water was cold, but it woke him up almost immediately.
He brushed his teeth and when he looked in the mirror, the one thing he saw in himself, was her. She made him so happy, the way she laughed and the way she smiled was amazing to him. She had her flaws, but they weren't even really flaws to him, her imperfections weren't imperfections to him.
He grabbed his phone and thought of calling her, but he decided against it. He was afraid that she wouldn't answer, or that worse she would have someone else, someone who wasn't him to tell him that she had already moved on.
He couldn't handle that.
He grabbed a jacket from his suitcase and walked outside the hotel room. He wasn't hungry to eat anything, so he decided to go to a small coffee shop that a woman had told him was near his hotel.
As he walked down the streets of New York, he saw couples holding hands which hurt him because the first thing he thought of was Tamina.
He hates himself for letting her go so easily, he should have fought for her to stay or he should have went with her. There was nothing that he wanted than to at least just know she was okay, to see her face one more time.
He just wanted her to be with him.
When he got to the coffee shop, there was already lots of people inside. He ordered a coffee and found an empty table by the window. The streets were already busy even early in the morning.
Ten minutes of him sittng and drinking his coffee, he heard the chair across from him scoot back. His eyes quickly flickered from his coffee to a girl sitting in front of him.
His jaw dropped at who he thought it was, but when he got a better look at her, he let out a small sigh. The girl in front of him looked a lot like his ex-girlfriend. It kind of scared him, but at the same time it hurt to look at this mysterious girl.
It hurt him to look at the girl because all he thought about staring at her, was Tamina.
"What's wrong with you?" she asked, taking a seat, "You look upset." He stayed quiet for a moment, somewhat in a state of shock at how similiar she looked to Tamina. He swallowed hard and she repeated herself, "You look sad, what's wrong?"
"I don't even know you," he finally said.
"Look, I just hate seeing people upset," she sighed, "I like seeing people smile, it's just who I am. So you can sulk around and let it hurt you or you can let out what you're feeling and at least feel a little better about it."
"My girlfriend left me," he finally choked out, "Like three months ago but I'm still sad about it, it still hurts."
"I'm sorry," she sighed, "Yeah, I know it still hurts. I understand how you feel."
"Did your boyfriend leave you too?" Calum asked her, feeling a bit better since he was talking to someone about it, the last time he actually talked about the situation to anyone was to his mom.
"He um.." she swallowed hard, keeping her composure, "He passed away."
"Oh," he said, his face showing pity, "I'm so sorry, what was his name?"
"His name was Kyle," she sighed, "He was a great guy, it's weird I remember a lot of our memories but some stuff is still kind of hazy on what happened, I guess it was from the trauma."
Calum's eyes widened at the sound of Kyle's name. He had remembered Tamina telling him that she lived because she reminded Kyle of an ex-girlfriend, he couldn't remember her name.
It then came to him.
Her name was Haylee.
"What was your girlfriends name?" she asked him.
"Tamina," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Her jaw slightly dropped. It was him, she was sitting by Calum, Tamina's ex boyfriend. The one that Tamina had run away from. She still didn't know what happened, but she was curious and she decided to take advantage of the fact that Calum was right in front of her.
"You're Calum," she said, more to herself than she said to him.
"How did you know?" he frowned.
"Tamina told me about you," she said, "I'm Haylee."
"I can't believe she just left me," his eyes started to water.
"She had her reasons," Haylee said, not giving away that she didn't know what that reason was.
"I could have left to," Calum said, "I went through exactly what she did, but I didn't leave her."
"She wanted a fresh start," Haylee said, "She told me she wanted to just forget, so just let her forget Calum."
"I watched them die too," Calum threw his hands in the air, "I wish I could forget too, but I can't, and I never will."
Haylee swallowed hard, "Who died?"
"My friends," he swallowed hard, "Our friends."
Haylee suddenly felt her throat close up. There was something that stood out to her, she remebered a house, a certain house. She swallowed hard and she couldn't keep herself from asking.
"Did you live in the murder house?" Haylee asked, putting pieces together.
Memories were coming back to her, memories she had forgotten in the past. She remembered that her boyfriend died in that house, Kyle had died there, but when she tried to remember what happened, she couldn't.
"Yes," he said, "All eight of us lived there."
"I'll take you to her," Haylee said, "To Tamina, I'll take you to her."
"You will?" Calum felt his heart leap.
"But you have to tell me what happened in that house," Haylee said, "Deal or no?"
So Calum told her the story.
He told her about the ouija board and how he meet certain spirits. He told her how Kyle cared for Tamina, because he thought of Haylee when he looked at her. He told Haylee about how each of his friends died.
Haylee cried when she was told about his friends dying, she could almost feel Tamina's pain, because she had went through pain and grief the same way she had, only that it was her boyfriend instead of friends.
No matter what though, as hard as she tried to put it all together, she couldn't seem to remember how Kyle died, all she remembered was that somehow he was murdered.
