"Hunter, I'm sorry!" Candy grabbed her boyfriend's arm, but he yanked it away. He was so angry at his girlfriend that he couldn't think straight. His anger was making him think crazy things, sick things. He had never been so hurt by her, sure they got into their fights about dumb things but this was so different.
"What did he have that I didn't?" Hunter grabbed his girlfriend by her shirt, pulling her closer towards him, "Hm? What was it?"
"We were wasted!" Candy yelled, "We weren't thinking clearly. Hunter I love you, you should know that. We didn't mean for it to happen."
Hunter scoffed, "So what are you trying to tell me? You didn't mean to have sex with my best friend? Did you guys just fall onto the bed? Is that what happened, Candy?"
Candy was so afraid, she was so afraid of what Hunter was about to do because when he got angry, he got angry.
"Hunter, let me go," Candy said, her voice barely audible. Her legs trembled, "You're scaring me."
Her boyfriend stared at the way he was grabbing her and let her go. She stumbled back but caught herself before she could fall.
"Go away," he went into the fridge and pulled out a bottle of vodka, drinking right from it. Candy looked down and he scoffed, "You know what, I'll go."
He walked past her, pushing her in the process. She stumbled again, but caught herself and watched as her boyfriend walked down to the basement. She had no idea why he was going down there, but she didn't want to follow him.
She sat down in the kitchen and started to cry. This was all her fault, if she hadn't drank so much, if she would have just walked away from Hunter's best friend, she would have never slept with him, and her and Hunter would be fine.
Candy had never cheated on Hunter, she never even dreamed of cheating on any of her boyfriends. She always said that was one thing she would never do.
But we all lie sometimes, don't we?
When I saw these two fighting, this was always why I thought relationships could fail, but that was before I saw real love. He loved her, but she didn't really love him, because if she did, she wouldn't have done that to him.
After a while of crying, she heard a loud bang coming from the basement. She froze, she knew it was Hunter and when she heard footsteps coming up the stairs, her heart dropped to her stomach. He came up the stairs with the bottle of vodka in his right hand, and a gun in the left.
"Hunter," Candy stood up slowly, "Why do you have that gun?"
He stared at her, "Whore." He aimed it at her and she put her hands up in defense, fear coursing throughout her body.
"You're drunk," her voice trembled as she spoke to him, "You're not thinking straight. Here just, give me the gun, and I'll put it away."
She walked towards him but he put the gun to her chest and pushed her back, "Don't get any closer to me."
Candy shook her head, "Don't do this, you're gonna regret it!"
"Don't raise your voice at me!" he threw the bottle of vodka right over Candy's head, making her scream as the glass shattered and hit the ground.
He stepped closer to her and put the gun to her forehead, "You deserve this, I hope you know that."
Candy took a shaky breath in and then exhaled, "Hunter, you aren't thinking rationally. I know I made a mistake, and I would take it back but if you do this, you will never be able to fix it. They're gonna take you to jail and you're gonna regret this, every day of you're life."
Tears came to his eyes and he only said one thing to her, before he pulled the trigger on the own girl that he claimed he loved, "I hope it was worth it."
She fell to the floor, and he watched as her body hit the floor. Her strawberry blond hair covered most of her face as she fell. He wondered if the neighbors had heard the gunshot, most likely they did.
Although, he knew one thing: there was no way he was going to jail.
He put the gun in his mouth, tears rolling down his face as he realized what he had done. He never had the intention of killing her, but the alcohol and his anger made him think so irrationally.
He pulled the trigger after counting down from five. He fell to the floor, the gun falling from his hand. They lied next to each other, his hand falling over hers.
Love can make people do crazy things.
