~* Venus's POV *~

I nibbled on my sleeve as I watched the scene play out. Three men sat in chairs as my partner interrogated them. I analyzed their expressions and dissected their emotions from their eyes. I made sure to watch their movements, waiting for any type of guilty actions. I saw something flash in one of the men's eye. Gotcha.

"It's him. The guy with the ridiculous hair," I stated with no emotion. My partner nodded before turning to the murderer. "Benjamin Adams, you are the murderer," my partner stated before punching him in the face, knocking him out.  Another case, solved.

We finally solved the case of the man who murdered his own parents. He was one of those typical low life drug dealers and when his parents found out, he murdered them with a knife. The case was pretty easy, only took about one and a half days. How can the Scotland Yard be this useless?

This is my life. I work for her majesty. If the Scotland Yard can't figure out a case, they assign me the case, the Queen's clever raven, or they assign the case to Ciel Phantomhive, the Queen's guard dog. The Scotland Yard knows me but they think I'm too arrogant. I have not met Ciel personally but I heard that he's good with solving cases. I still think I'm better though.

I walked along the hallways, towards my isolated office. "Venus, congratulations on solving another case!" Lily, my acquaintance, exclaimed as she walked pass me. I nodded in acknowledgement. I reached my office and opened the door. I sniffed the air, making sure no one has been in here before closing the door behind me. My room looked as normal as ever. There were stuffed animals here and there, and my furniture was the shade of midnight black. I opened my cabinets and took out my life source. I held a hand full of sugar cubes before placing them on my desk. I pushed my glasses up a little further so it now rest on the bridge of my nose.

I started stacking them one by one. Very carefully, I placed a sugar cube on the top. The sugar cube tower wobbled before standing still. I popped one in my mouth for lunch. The door slammed open, causing my tower to fall. A guard stood there with an emotionless face.

"The Queen is requesting your presence," he stated before promptly leaving. I got out of my chair before leaving as well.

I entered the throne room and respectfully bowed before the Queen. "You requested me?" I asked. I saw so many emotions swimming through her eyes. Uncertainty, panic and worry.

"Yes, Venus, I requested you. I need you to solve another case. A group of dangerous thieves stole an important key of mine. It's the Dark Knights. The key unlocks all the secrets of England. If they sell this to another country, the results will be disastrous," the Queen explained worriedly. Dark Knights, again?

"I thought Ciel took care of the Dark Knights a month ago," I stated. She nodded her head.

"He has. But, the Dark Knight's leader had a son who survived. He has gathered new dangerous men and is now in charge. He has renamed the group though. He has calls them the Forgotten Ones," the Queen said. I nodded, taking in the information. At least they have a better name now.

"May I see the paper work on this case?" I asked politely. I wanted to jump onto this case immediately. It seemed pretty interesting which is something I don't find around here.

"That's the thing," she started. "Since this case is very important, we need at least two of our best people to work on it." I looked her in the eyes and saw her emotions. I saw distrust and doubt. She doesn't trust me, that's a first.

"Who am I going to work with?" I asked emotionlessly.

"Ciel Phantomhive." She stated with a light smile. I could tell that she favors him more than me. Oh well. This will just be like any other case I have handled.

Or so I thought...

I hope the first chapter was interesting. I know it was sort of boring but we had to get it out of the way.

And if you're wondering, L from Death Note inspired my character: Venus Faye. But don't worry, she's not exactly like him.

Vote if you like it, comment if you have any suggestions. But please no hate, I already have enough to deal with.

Pic of Venus on the side. (She is 13 years old)
