"How did you know?" Ciel demanded, narrowing his eyes at a smirking Liam. Sebastian watched them, awaiting a command from his master.
Liam shrugged nonchalantly, "I guess I'm a genius." He knew he was just tempting them. He wanted to get on their nerves and didn't seem fazed about their secret. If anything, he found it amusing.
"I could snap your neck before you could say a word," Ciel threatened, his temper flaring. He was getting impatient with this mischievous man. He wanted answers and he wanted them now.
"My, my, aren't you just a cup of sunshine," Liam mocked, sarcasm dripping from every word. The Earl growled in frustration.
"If you must know," Liam started, "Venus is the one who told me about demons."
The two demons seemed surprised at his answer. They didn't think a human little girl would know about the creatures from hell.
"When she finds out you two are demons, I promise you she will kill you. She hates them with passion. She has a bad past involving them," Liam revealed more, spilling his ex- friend's secrets with a smile on his face.
Ciel looked down at the girl in his arms. He looked intrigued, wondering how she knew. Did demons turn her heart into ice? Are they the reason why she's so cold? Ciel's questions came without an answer.
"Aw, have you grown fond of her," Liam cooed, noticing the look Ciel had on his face as he gazed at her. But something in Liam snapped, a new found emotion surfaced. It was an anger he never felt before as he stared as the Earl and Venus. Is it jealousy? Envy? Hatred? Liam masked his anger as he teased Ciel.
"Sebastian," Ciel summoned, ready to give an order.
"Yes, master?"
"Kill them," he said coldly. He wanted them dead. No matter what Venus had to say, he wanted to kill them. They know their secret, they cannot live anymore.
"Yes, my Lord," Sebastian promised, his eyes glowing deviously. He took a step towards the Dark Knights, taking out silver forks and knives as weapons. Liam stared at the silverware in amusement. Never had he saw a demon fight with such weird weaponry.
"Kill the butler," Liam ordered making his men straighten their backs, ready to fight. The commander let out a warrior cry before hell broke loose. Sebastian and the Dark Knights engaged into a heated battle.
Ciel didn't notice that the toxic gas had dispersed, its effects wearing off. Venus started to wake up, squirming in the Earl's arms. Ciel seemed to panic slightly as she started to move. She will see Sebastian fighting inhumanly and know we are demons, he thought worriedly. But doesn't she already know? Didn't Liam say that she is the one who told her about demons?
Before Ciel could react, Venus opened her eyes.
~* Venus's POV *~
I could hear grunting and screaming as I woke up. It sounded like a battle had started. I blinked a few times to erase the blurriness that had clouded my vision.
Ciel's worried face was the first thing I saw. He was so close, our nose barely touching. He seemed to notice our closeness and pulled away, his face heated.
I turned my head before my breath hitched. I stared ahead of me in shock, not believing what I saw at first. Sebastian and the Dark Knights were fighting. The butler flashed from place to place, killing each person at inhuman speed. His eyes were glowing a fuchsia color, proving he was anything but human. I knew it. I knew he was a demon.
I stood up from Ciel's arms. He seemed to panic as he saw anger clouding my eyes as I stared at his butler. A demons is what killed my family. They are filthy and selfish creatures that are blinded by burning greed. If they didn't exist, my family would still be alive. Anger consumed me, keeping me from thinking rationally.
"Venus, it's not what it-" Ciel tried to explain but I cut him off.
"Save it," I snapped. His eyes widened at my harsh demeanor. "I know what your butler is. No need to lie."
I was practically fuming, heated anger engulfed me. Kill him, kill the demon! That order ran through my mind. I was acting irrationally as I stalked towards him. My eyes had shifted to a dark, dangerous purple color. Any logical thinking I had was completely forgotten. I couldn't control myself.
Arms suddenly wrapped around me. It was the Earl, hugging me, trying to calm me down. His warmth deflated the anger in me. My purple eyes were replaced with my usual cyan colored one. I stood there frozen in Ciel's embrace.
"I need you to calm down. The anger you are feeling is clouding your judgement. Calm down, Venus," Ciel whispered sweetly into my ear. A warm giddy feeling erupted in my stomach for having him whisper into my ear. I've never felt this before. I don't know why but I felt safe in his embrace. My cheeks flushed.
He let go of me as he knew I had calmed down. His warmth of his arms left me, leaving me cold and lonely. I shook my head, trying to erase these absurd thoughts. The warm feeling in my stomach was still there and my face was still heated as I remembered how he hugged me.
You like him, Angel sang teasingly in my mind. I sighed in annoyance. She appears in the worst moments. There is no way I like the Earl. We were just partners and there's a high chance that he's a demon.
"Master, it is done," Sebastian appeared in front of us, his once white gloves coated in blood red. His tail coat was surprisingly clean, not a speck of blood present. I felt angry as I remembered what he was but I calmed down quickly, knowing I had to think logically instead of acting unreasonably. Dead bodies covered the ground but one was still barely alive. I noticed who that was. Liam.
"I thought we could interrogate him," Sebastian gestured towards an unconscious Liam. Ciel nodded in approval, telling him we should bring him back to the manor. I noticed how the Earl kept on throwing me worried glances. Now that I know his butler is a demon, what am I going to do? I shall figure out that later. My first priority is to follow her majesty's command. I will worry about the demon thing later.
With that, we made our way back to the Phantomhive manor with our new found hostage.
