~* Venus's POV *~

It was as if time stood still for that moment.

Everything was perfect. Christopher had finally realized that the world will never be what he envisioned. He ordered the Dark Knights to stand down and surrender, them obeying his every word. We were all going to be fine. Everything was going to be okay. Ciel agreed to help him change his name and erase his past, my brother being able to have a fresh start.

We were going to go home, together. As a family.

Everything was perfect. Key word: was. Past tense.

It was like the curse I beared snarled at me, reminding me it existed.

Reinforcements stormed into the room, shooting everything and everyone in their way. They seemed to be rabid mad dogs, attacking anything that moved. They took down Ciel, his body falling unconscious with a bullet hole through his skull. Knowing he was going to live because of his demonic healing, I pushed Christopher out of the way as bullets hurled towards us.

What the hell? Do these people not care about casualties? So much for justice.

"Avenge the Queen!!!"

I grabbed a gun that was on the floor and began aiming at their heads, not missing every time I pulled the trigger. But it seemed that there was an endless supply of men. Chaos broke out in the throne room, the Dark Knight's trying to defend themselves but were failing miserably, getting crushed by their growing numbers.

"Ciel!" I screamed at him as he regained consciousness, struggling to get up, "Get off your ass!"

He shook his head, blinking, trying to readjust to living once more, "Hold on. Give me a sec-"

He didn't get to finish as he was shot again, in the head. I rolled my eyes, sneering under my breath, "Are you serious? Again? How useless can one person be?"

"Venus," Christopher scrambled over to me, a gun in his hand with a playful smirk dancing on his lips, "I've got your back."

I nodded before we became in perfect sync, our guns going off as we shot with precision. A man had snuck up on me, my vision obscured by all the gunpowder. I glanced in his direction, my eyes widening in panic as his index finger pressed the trigger. Before it went off, his body fell to the ground, my brother being the one to save me.

I smiled at him. He threw me a mischievous wink before going back to aiming and firing. I joined him, my brother and I fighting together.

And that was when the curse finally took it's final, fatal bite.

A bomb was thrown, landing right between Christopher and I. I didn't even have a moment to panic as my brother threw himself at me without hesitation, screaming my name. He used himself as a shield, protecting me from the ticking time grenade. His lips moved, whispering in my ear but I was too caught up in panic, my very own scream drowning out his voice.

The bomb went off, my scream of terror echoing through the room, "NOOO!"

I remember feeling his unmistakable warmth, slowly draining. Then it was cold, darkness engulfing me.

"Venus? Venus! Please wake up!" Ciel's voice yelled, a dull ringing in my ear.

I blinked, realizing I was in his arms. A look of relief washed over him. His grip around my tightened, murmuring softly, "Thank God you're alright."

He buried his face in the crook of my neck while I looked over his shoulder, seeing the scattered bodies all over the floor. Sebastian stood in the corner, taking care of the last nuisance. When did he..?

I looked down at my hands to see blood. I knew it wasn't mine.

"C-Ciel," my voice rose above a whisper, "W-Where is Chrissy?"

His pained eyes looked behind me. I followed his gaze and froze.

There my brother lay, his eyes closed. Blood pooled underneath him, a hole blown through the dead center of his body. He looked like he was at peace, no pain or anguish written on his face. His lips were frozen into a small smile, almost looking happy. His arms were hunched over, like he was holding something just before he...

I finally realized whose blood was on me.

"Oh my god, oh god," I cried, my visions blurring with tears as I struggled to get out of Ciel's arms, "C-Chrissy? Chrissy! Answer me!"

I reached out towards him but Ciel's words made me stop, "I'm sorry, Venus, but he is no longer alive."

"What?" I shook my head in denial, "No. He is alive. He promised me that we were going to go home together. Everything is fine. Everything is perfect. We were going to be a family again. He promised me...!"

"And he also promised to protect you," Ciel stated, lightly brushing the tears away, "He did just that."

My brother is dead. He died protecting me. Me, his little sister.

And with that, my curse was finally lifted, the price being my dear Chrissy's blood.

His final words echoed through my mind, his soft voice whispering in my ear before he departed to the place where his vision would be finally fulfilled.

"I love you, Venus."

I love you, too, Christopher Lucas Faye. And I will never forget you for as long as I live.

I love you so very much, Chrissy.

And this is farewell.

Goodbye, brother dearest of mine.
