Soo-Jin

When Soo-Jin woke up the next morning she was feeling as good as new. She stretched her body and looked around to see a snoring Yong-Hoo on the one side and an empty bed on the other side. In that moment the door opened and Father Choi entered, together with a wave of cold air.

"Good morning", he whispered and smiled at her. "How did you sleep?"

"Surprisingly good and you?"

"I slept alright." Soo-Jin could be mistaken but was there a hint of blush on his cheeks?

"I got us breakfast." He let himself down on the blanket next to her and unpacked the full grocery bags. "By the way, Yong-Hoo told me that the rosemary got ripped. Unfortunately they did not sell rosemaries at the store so I had to look for an alternative." He handed her a bracelet with big, rainbow colored beads, which had little smiley faces on them. "I blessed it and it should do for now."

Soo-Jin took it from him, staring at the odd sensation of jewelry.

"We can give it back if you don't like it, it was literally all they had..."

"No", she quickly interrupted him, "I love it and it's perfect. Thank you." She put it on and fondly smiled at it, touched by the priest's thoughtfulness. "I'm sorry I ripped your rosemary", she apologized, "I will get you a new one."

But just waved her off. "It's alright, don't worry about it."

"I insist. Do you think they make them in these colors?" She lifted her arm, showing off her bracelet and Father Choi laughed.

"I'm not sure-"

Both of their heads turned as they heard a groan beside them. Yong-Hoo rose up from his sheets, looking like - there was no nice way of putting it- he had been chewed up and spit out.

"Oh my, what happened to you?" Soo-Jin giggled and Yong-Hoo shot her a look, which, if his face hadn't been so cutely puffed, could have been interpreted as intimidating.

"You. I spent half of the night fighting you off. You get a little touchy when you sleep."

"What? No way!" She looked at Father Choi, wanting to ask if it was true but his bright red face was answer enough.

"I'm so sorry!" She hid her face in her hands, too embarrassed to even look at him.

She heard him cough awkwardly and say "It's okay."

"You know, touching a priest against his will is actually a deadly sin." Soo-Jin could practically hear Yong-Hoo's evil grin. She lowered her hands from her face and punched his arm.

"I did not touch him against his will! Well, not purposely!" She defended herself, her voice a little hysterical. Towards Father Choi she bowed and apologized again. "I'm really sorry, Father."

"What about me?" Yong-Hoo pouted, rubbing the spot, where she had hit him.

"You are not a priest! Now stop it."

"Or what, you will punch me again?" He enjoyed this a little too much.

Soo-Jin leaned forward and glared at him daringly, smiling sheepishly. "No, I'll cuddle you until you beg for mercy."

His eyebrows shot up and he laughed. Nonetheless he decided to drop the topic. Instead he started munching on the food Father Choi had brought and so did the others.

Although Soo-Jin enjoyed the light mood, she remembered that there was something less pleasant she had to address and it would be easier the faster she got it over with. As she had promised Yong-Hoo, she informed Father Choi about her condition. She appreciated that he kept his composure and she answered the medical questions he had. He did not pity her, or at least he didn't show any pity, but expressed his sympathy and concerns, which she thanked him for and tried to talk him out of. He seemed unsure about involving her in the upcoming mission, which only changed when he realized that Yong-Hoo was- for some reason- positive about it.
