TRIGGER WARNING: Violence, murder, death
Yong-Hoo
Yong-Hoo was dragging himself through the fog that lay upon his consciousness. Only slowly he came to his senses. He found himself in his own living room, seated on one of the kitchen chairs, with his back to the wall. He could see Soo-Jin clearly, as she was walking up and down his living-room, could hear her mumbled words, but something seemed wrong with the rest of his body. It was numb, so that he could not feel anything beyond his neck, as if there simply was only his head. No matter how hard he tried to tense his muscles and move, nothing happened. Panic arose inside of him and it multiplied when the latest memories caught up with him. But the rush of adrenaline didn't help with the numbness, it only made him dizzy. What the fuck was going on?
"What did you do to me?"
He forced himself to take deep breaths. He had to stay conscious. He had to take control.
"Soo-Jin." His voice sounded different, even to him. Demanding but calm, the way he would talk to a wild animal. Immidiately she turned to him. She did not move, she just stood there and stared at him. "What are you doing?" He rephrased his question, this time hiding his anxiety.
"I don't know", she whispered. Her voice was raspy and he could see that her eyes were filling with tears. He watched her cover her face with her shaking hands, dropping down.
"It's okay." His words sounded soft but his heart was hard. He felt violated and exposed to her but he knew he had to make time. Whatever she had drugged him with would fade eventually. "We can talk this out."
"Now you want to talk, really? You had so many chances to be honest with me!"
He was searching for the right words but there was nothing he could say in his defense. But he could not let the guilt get to him, not now. "You have every right to be angry, but this isn't right and you know that."
"Don't talk to me about what's right. All you have done from the start was manipulate me so I would save your life! Was anything even real? I bet it was fun playing with my feelings and to see me care for you."
Her words hit him but he buried the pain, extinguished it like a flame before it could light him on fire. "I swear to God, everything I said to you, I meant it."
"No", she shook her head. "You said you were going to protect me."
Yong-Hoo shut his eyes, unable to look at her anymore. His bad conscience and remorse were about to break down his walls.
Her voice was as cold as stone now. "But truly, you only think about yourself. That's why everyone around you gets hurt."
This was it, the echo of his biggest fears and darkest self-doubts.
"You were willing to trade my life for yours, although you only bring pain upon others. You could have tried to find a way to save me but instead you chose to chase the Dark Bishop." She paused.
"He warned me that you were going to throw me right under the bus. Good for me, I didn't bet all my money on you."
Horror clasped his heart when the meaning of her words sank through his stormy thoughts. What?
Yong-Hoo opened his eyes. Soo-Jin was suddenly standing right in front of him - her face distorted by a horrid grin. His thoughts were racing uncontrollably and his heartbeat was hammering in his ears.
"Doesn't feel too great, does it." This nonchalance, so opposite from her previous demeanor, rung alarm bells in his head. He had seen this side of her before. Had she fooled him all along? Had he really been that blind?
