Soo-Jin

Soo-Jin watched the two men stop in front of a church. They had not said a word and the priest had kept his head down during the short walk. Then Park Yong-Hoo said something energetically, which caused the priest to flinch. Soo-Jin was too far away to hear what they were saying but it did not seem to be a pleasant conversation.

A little later the priest turned around and dissapeared inside the church, leaving the other man alone. He himself started taking sturdy steps into a different direction and Soo-Jin had trouble keeping up with him. This was way harder than it looked like in movies! Before she realized it she was out of breath and in a part of town, that she would not have gone in a clear mind. The industrial buildings around her were shattered and lifeless and the few people that she had passed with her head low had looked equally shattered and lifeless.

Finally her reason took over and she stopped in the middle of the empty street. What the hell was she doing here? Trying to lose some organs? She shuddered at the thought and turned right on the heel to get away from this place. It was then that she heard a loud bang, shattering of glass and muffled screaming. Her body froze. These were sounds one would hear in movies and nightmares, not in real life, and the terror that came with this realization made her feet unable to run away, against her screaming instinct. Terrible noises continued to come from around the corner, where Park Yong-Hoo had disappeared just seconds ago. What if it was him and he was in danger? Could she really turn around and leave him behind, as if nothing had happened?

No.

She forced her shaking body to walk towards the corner of the street, pressing her body against the wall. She ducked around the corner to get a view of the situation, mentally preparing herself for the worst of the worst. Her head snapped back, eyes shut. Fuck. A man, gorilla-sized, was beating down on a huddled lump on the street. At his point her heart was beating so fast, that she could barely hear anything else. This was a dead end street. That lump was Park Yong-Hoo.

A life for a life. Park Yong-Hoo dies, Min Soo-Jin lives.

For some reason there was this voice in her head, reminding her of the delusional nightmare she had had. This had to be a coincidence, this could not be real. She pushed away the temptation. Real or not, there was no way she could just watch a person get killed and do nothing.

Suddenly her mind was clear and took control over her helpless body. Soo-Jin grabbed the next item she could find- which luckily was a steel pole- and roaringly stormed the alley. She actually caught the attacker off guard, hitting him on the neck with the metal pole, before he knew what was happening. Soo-Jin aticipated for him to faint, or just stumble, but he turned towards her unaffected. His eyes seemed to gleam red with hatred, while he disarmed her from her weapon with ease. Panic rose inside her and she turned around to flee, but he quickly grabbed her by the collar and threw her across the alley, as if she weighted nothing. She hit the pavement hard and all the air was pushed out of her lungs. She desperately tried to get up and run away but her body didn't seem to function properly. While crawling into the corner of the street she tried to locate the attacker with dizzy eyes. Luckily, in the mean time Park Yong-Hoo had managed to get up again, using the distraction to get a hold of the gorilla. But his opponent was stonger and less injured then him, so he just ignored Yong-Hoo's attacks and took a swing towards his face, that he could not withstand in any way. Soo-Jin shut her eyes and covered her ears so that she wouldn't have to witness the following. But all of a sudden something hot flashed, forcing her to open her eyes again. She stared a the scene, unable to comprehend what was happening.

Park Yong-Hoo was reaching up the the gorilla's head to, as it seemed, set it on fire. The flames were white and strong, so that even she could feel their heat. The attacker screamed in pitches, that caused Soo-Jin's ear drums to hurt, until the fire just somehow extinguished, and he sank to his feet, muted.

She stared at Yong-Hoo, who nudged burned gorilla with his feet, unable to blink. What the fuck had just happened?

"Is he dead?", she tought aloud. Park Yong-Hoo either did not hear her or chose to ignore her, staring at his hands. What the hell had she done?

"Did you kill him?", she asked louder, shrill. A different kind of panic grabbed her by the throat. Had she just helped commit a murder? What nonesense had driven her into following him, helping him? What if he was the bad guy?!

She flinched as he turned towards her. His expression was blank. He quickly stepped over the body and towards her, causing her to press herself against the wall, unable to escape. He roughly grabbed her jar and pushed her head back. With a tight grip he forced some liquid into her mouth and made her swallow it, despite her trying to fight back. Tears ran down her face and she helplessly waited for something to happen. After a couple seconds he suddenly let go of her, dropping down to the ground next to her.

"Are you alright?" His head dropped into his hands.

If she was alright? Fuck, no! "You tell me, what did you give to me?" She knew she had to get whatever it was out of her system as soon as possible, so she forced herself onto her shivering knees.

He looked up in confusion. His face slowly changed and he held up his hands apologetically. "It's just water, see..." He took a sip of the same liquid that he had forced her to drink.

"What the hell? Why?" Soo-Jin wiped away her tears, still cautious.

"I could ask you the same thing, given that you were following me around."

Having been caught she chose to not give an answer, just as he had done. She took a deep breath. "What happened to him?"

He raised his eyebrows and finally looked her in the eyes. "He's alright."

"No freaking way." Feeling less frightnened of him and more in control of her body again, Soo-Jin got up to check on the gorilla. She could barely believe it, but his vital functions were intact, and so was his face. How could it be possible when the smell of burning flesh still lingered in the alley? She would never be able to get that smell out of her clothes, let alone her nose. Park Yong-Hoo on the other hand seemed unbothered. He just sat there and stared at his hands, which were also showing no signs of burning.

"Explain to me what happened", she demanded, but he just let out a dry laugh. He stood up and she faced him.

"If you know what's good for you, don't ask these questions." She wanted to object, but he stepped closer, with an insistant look on his face, that made her back off. "Go home. Forget everything you saw tonight."

With these words he passed her and left her behind in the alley.

She just stood there, not knowing wether she should laugh or cry. Was he really going to leave her behind like that, after what had just happened? This douchebag! Slowly she became aware of the situation she was in: the gorilla could regain consciousness any second. She did what she should have done from the start- she ran as fast as she could. Only when she let herself fall into the backseat of a taxi, she allowed herself to breathe.

Her heartbeat had not normalized even after she returned to her safe home. Her thoughts were running wild, trying to find a logical explanation to what had happened. She decided to anonymously call an ambulance for Ghost Rider Guy, just to make sure that he really would not die in that alley. Still she felt as if she had done a terrible mistake. What she had done was impulsive and unbelievably stupid. All that because of fucking Park Yong-Hoo.
