Soo-Jin
"Good night." Soo-Jin watched Yong-Hoo dissapear in his bedroom. She let herself drop onto the couch that he had previously made ready for her. He had even given her a shirt and some sweatpants to sleep in, since she had nothing to change into. She had to admit that it was very thoughtful of him to take care of her like that, even though he didn't have to.
She went to the bathroom and slipped into his oversized clothes, which had the scent of fresh laundry. In general his whole apartment was clean and tidy, which she had not really expected. Quietly she tiptoed back to the living room and snuggled into the blankets.
She sighed, reflecting on the day. Everything had worked just the way she had planned it: giving him the cold shoulder had made him open up to her by himself. Although him knowing about her sickness had not been part of it, he seemed pretty cool about it. She was just happy that their differences were solved and he had agreed to accept her as part of the team.
Soo-Jin turned to the side and watched the sparkling city lights. This whole thing felt like an adventure and finally made her actually anticipate the coming days. While she drifted off to sleep she thought, that even if she got killed by it, at least it would not be a completely meaningless death...
When Soo-Jin woke up the next morning, it took her some seconds to realize where she was. She had slept like a baby and that was exactly what she had needed. She stretched her body and a smile crossed her face when she remembered that she was wearing Yong-Hoo's clothes.
According to her phone it was 8 o'clock in the morning and it didn't seem as if he had woken up yet. Should she wait until he got up too or should she sneak out? She didn't want this to be awkward. Still unsure, she grabbed her clothes and went to the bathroom. She took a quick shower and tried to tame her hair into a ponytail. Maybe it had been the good rest or it was the enthusiasm about the upcoming mission, but she thought she looked much more refreshed and healty.
Humming happily she returned to the living room. She checked the fridge to see if she could cook Yong-Hoo a breakfast as a thank you, and besides the tons of chicken breast and broccoli (was he on a diet?), she found some eggs. The omelets were about ready when she heard footsteps behind her.
"Hey."
She turned to see Yong-Hoo, ruffled up and clearly still half asleep, standing in the living room. His hair was standing up into every direction and he was rubbing his eyes. She smiled at the, admittedly cute, sight. "Good morning. Did I wake you up?"
He set course to the table and plopped down on one of the chairs. "No, my stomach did. That smells so good." His voice was raspy and he was still slurring his words a little.
"Hopefully it's going to taske just as good. Here-" She put the omelet onto the plate in front of him. Before she could even blink he had already shoved a full fork into his mouth.
"It's hot", he pouted but still kept eating regardless of it, "but it tastes really good."
Soo-Jin chuckled at his unusual behaviour and took a seat across from him with her own plate. "Nice to hear."
"How did you sleep?" He slowly seemed to be waking up.
"Great, and you?"
He nodded with his mouth full, signaling with a thumbs up that he had slept great too.
Soo-Jin couldn't hold back laughter. "I didn't know you could be so cute."
He coughed, nearly choking on his food. "You really shouldn't say things like that", he said, but blushed.
She leaned forward. "Why, is God going to get jealous?", she teased. "That's so slefish, making you this cute and keeping you all to himself. What a loss for womankind."
"Ok, now you lost me. What nonsense are you saying?"
She sighed and rolled her eyes. "Your celibacy, sorry to remind you."
He looked at her strangely. "You know I'm not a priest, right?"
"What?!"
He laughed. "You thought I was a priest?"
"Well, I knew you were not a priest like Father Choi, but I thought you were some special-agent-ninja-exorcist kind of priest!"
"Well, you thought wrong." He snorted. "Me, a priest? Yeah, right..."
"You should have told me that! I slept here!"
Now it was on him to roll his eyes. "On the couch."
"I-" she looked down on herself, realizing that she had taken her sweater off while cooking and was currently just wearing a -rather revealing- top. Quickly she covered herself, putting her sweater back on.
"Relax, it's not like some skin is going to make me jump at you. I'm not an animal."
"Why are you blushing then?"
"I'm not." He lied. "Plus, you are not even my type."
"Pervert", Soo-Jin whispered jokingly, to cover that his comment had actually hurt her ego a little.
He opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted by his buzzing phone. He checked the display and picked up. "Hello?"
Wile he was talking on the phone, Soo-Jin looked around the kitchen to avoid eye contact with him. When she heard her name, her head went up, meeting Yong-Hoo's stare and she quickly turned her head again. Why was it suddenly so hot in there?
Yong-Hoo coughed to get her attention, having ended the call. "It was Father Choi. There seems to be a case of demonic possession about two hours away from town and he wants to go this afternoon."
"Sounds great", Soo-Jin clapped her hands. "I'm going to run home and get changed if it's alright with you..."
"Sure, I will text you when we will come to pick you up."
Before he had even finished the sentence, Soo-Jin had already gotten up from her chair. "I cooked, you'll do the dishes." She grabbed her things, backing away from the living room. "Thanks for letting me crash, see you later!"
"Okay..." She couldn't hear if he said something afterwards because the door had shut behind her. She was still holding her shoes in her hand, cursing at herself. What the hell was wrong with her? Why was her heart beating so fast? It was as if the moment he had said he was not a priest, a switch had been turned and she had started to see him as a man. But then he had made clear that she was not his type. God, so what? There was no way that she was interested in him, just because he had acted decently for one evening and happened to look really cute in the morning. She shook her head to get rid of those thoughts and got on her way.
