Friendship isn't about who you've known the longest. It is about who walked into your life, said "I'm here for you" and proved it.

Stella stood once again in an unfamiliar room with her mother. She tried to avoid her mother’s disapproving gaze but it was impossible.

“I am confused Stella, you disappeared yesterday only to appear today with Brandon wearing the same clothes you left in.” Marlene recounted in disappointment, “what do you want me to think?”

“Nothing happened mom, I went to see him and I slept off. I was really tired.” Stella weakly defended, avoiding eye contact. She shifted her weight on her legs.

“Oh, so you are so comfortable with him that you can sleep off in his house?” Marlene glared at her weak excuse. “Stella, he is a detective, you have a boyfriend, what were you thinking? At this dangerous time, you are going around without a care in this world, do you care for your safety?”

“I am safe with him mom, that isn’t the issue. Whenever I am with Brandon, I am safe.” Stella said confidently. She shot her mom a pleading look to understand.

Marlene groaned softly, rubbing her temples. “Stella, this is besides the point. I don’t know what is going on but remember this, you are the heiress to a multibillion enterprise,” Stella shifted uncomfortably. “You are not an ordinary person. Carry yourself like an Esoro.”

Stella pressed her lips together in displeasure but nodded and Marlene relaxed.

“I am glad we understand each other,” Marlene was interrupted by her ringing phone. She picked it up and narrowed her eyes in displeasure. “Speaking of the detective…”

Stella perked up slightly while Marlene answered the call, “yes? Madam Marlene speaking.”

Stella heard Brandon speak indistinctly on the phone and tensed to see Marlene grow pale.

“Wh-What do you mean?” Marlene trembled.

“I think you should come see for yourself madam.” Stella heard Brandon say.

The Esoro family arrived at the police station, rushing in with all urgency. They couldn’t believe the news they heard, Sky was alive?

Marlene was the first to reach the desk. “Where is he?” she asked looking utterly broken. Stella stared at the officer on the desk pleadingly.

Diyemi appeared from the back. “Follow me.”

Marlene, Stella, Roxy and Chinaza immediately followed wasting no time. Despite their nerves, they followed Diyemi slowly to what looked like an interrogation room.

Their blood quickened when they caught sight of a man talking to Brandon. He had his back facing them.

“Is that…is that him?” Marlene’s voice shook, her eyes brimming with tears.

The Esoro daughters looked at Diyemi for answers but he just lowered his head with a wry smile and stepped out.

The family listened to the discussion going on between the two men.
“…Becca isn’t the murderer, I am a hundred percent sure.”
