24|| Falling Apart

I have been drowning in my own problems that I could no longer escape from them.

"Megan!"

"Megan! Stop!"

"Stop it! Don't do this to yourself!"

Stella rushed inside to see Megan throwing things on the floor. Megan was out of control, her hair flying in different directions and her pupils contracting.

She let out a strangled scream startling everyone into taking a step back. She clutching her head tightly and hugged herself, letting her nails dig into her skin.

"Mom..." She sobbed, briefly seizing her rampage. She crouched on the floor clutching her chest tightly. "Why did you leave me mom?! It's not fair! It's not fair! Come back mom, please..."

Megan sobbed uncontrollably and everyone cautiously approached her.

Suddenly, Megan snapped her head up, her bloodshot eyes making everyone take another subconscious step backward.

"Megan, calm down" Chinaza said in a calming voice.

"Calm down..." Megan glared at Chinaza but swayed.

"Someone call the doctor" Marlene spoke to no one in particular. "Call the doctor!"

"I'll call my mom" Nora jolted and rushed outside. Megan fell to the floor unconscious and was luckily caught by Chinaza.

"Megan!"

"Megan!" Roxy shook her. She looked at Stella scared, "We have to take her to the hospital, right now!"

"Chinaza, help me" Stella said and lifted Megan up by one arm. Chinaza took the other and carried Megan outside to Stella's car.

"You all should stay here. Only Chinaza will follow me to the hospital" Stella ordered. "I don't want anyone to follow us. We will call you once Megan is okay."

"But Stella..." Roxy said, looking helplessly into Stella's eyes. Stella stayed firm. "Stay here." She and Chinaza entered the car and drove off leaving Nora, Roxy and Marlene staring.

At the hospital, Stella and Chinaza arrived and with help from Deji, Megan was taken care of immediately. Stella leaned on the wall massaging her temples while Chinaza was seated, her head bowed in between her hands.

"Everything will be fine Stella." Deji tried to console despite not knowing what happened. Stella bit her bottom lip doubting his words.

"Stella is everything alright? I heard what happened." Funmi appeared wearing her nursing uniform.

"Aunty." Stella immediately hugged Funmi and Funmi patted her back gently. She had no words to say that would make the situation better.

"You will be fine." She whispered softly.

Stella nodded. Chinaza glanced at Stella's interactions with Funmi and Deji and the memory of her coming home with Brandon came to mind. A slight smile appeared on her lips.
