Distance means nothing when someone means everything.

ABUJA.

Brandon woke up in his room tired and looked around a bit disoriented. He remembered Michelle being there last night and kissing him but when she tried to take it further, he sent her home.

He groaned feeling a bit sick from drinking but he forced himself to get up.

He got dressed up and was ready to leave when his phone pinged. He opened it and his poker face changed instantly.

His phone trembled in his hands. "This...isn't a joke right?" he muttered, fearful that he was wrong. A friend had sent him a message with an attached picture of Maria.

I think I found Stella. The message read.
At the police station, the Chief passed by Brandon's desk and noticed no one was there. He frowned and asked the others. "Where is Brandon? He is late."

"Sir, didn't you receive his message?" Diyemi came answering and the Chief frowned deeper.

"What message?"

"He traveled to Ogun state, he said he found Stella" Diyemi whispered and before the Chief could explode over another 'false' report, showed him the sent picture.

The chief stared bug-eyed at the picture in shock. "Is this...is this really true?" he stammered.

"It's seems so sir so Brandon has gone there to confirm." Diyemi answered and the Chief marveled at the possibility of the news being true.

OGUN STATE.

Maria was incredibly apologetic to Funmi and Makinde after her episode last night even though they assured her that everything was fine.

She couldn't help but feel guilty.

As ordered by Funmi, she followed her to the hospital's big pharmacy to get the only medicine Maria needed to take.

"It could mean that you will regain your memory very soon but try not to stress yourself," the pharmacist advised. "the mind is a sensitive thing."

"Thank you," Maria smiled gratefully and collected the medicine. She and Funmi walked away. "you don't have to walk me out."

"I want to," Funmi gently said. "you have to eat well and take the medicine. Don't work too hard." She stopped at the hospital's exit.

"I won't, thank you," Maria sincerely thanked and waved goodbye. She walked away and Funmi sighed.

"Isn't it exhausting taking care of her?"
Funmi looked at a nurse colleague and crossed her arms. "I see Maria like my daughter. Looking at her makes me wonder what her family might be feeling, thinking she is missing."

"Family," the nurse scoffed. "that is if she has one. For the past two years, the police found nothing about her. She will end up leeching of you, and how are you sure she isn't a thief or a murderer?"

"Don't be cynical," Funmi cautioned "Maria is different. She may have lost her memory, but the way she speaks and moves," she paused, thinking of Maria. "I can tell she is someone with dignity."
