Words cut deeper than knives. A knife can be pulled out, words are embedded into our soul.
=====
Three days passed by with Stella ignoring Brandon. She was just too hurt by his lies and since he was discharged, she felt there was no need for them to see each other again.
At the Esoro mansion, Stella came downstairs and saw Megan seated on the couch lazily, filing her nails. She looked past her to the balcony glass doors and saw Marlene and Funmi talking.
"Good evening, may I ask what's going on here?" She stepped in to ask just as Marlene laughed at something Funmi said.
"Nothing," Marlene smiled. "in fact I was just about to call you," she turned to Funmi with a grateful smile. "thank you for everything you told me."
Funmi smiled. "You're welcome."
Marlene turned to Stella. "Stella. You've been back for up to a week, I think it's time you take your rightful place in your father's business."
"B-Business?" Stella stammered wide-eyed. "I don't think I can, what if I do something wrong? Business isn't for me."
"What are you saying? You are an amazing business woman, the company flourished under you," Marlene laughed at her lack of confidence. "you can do it."
"But that was before when I had my memories!"
"You won't do it alone Stella, relax," Marlene smiled knowingly. "I will help you, we will work at the company together for at least a month. I'm sure you will understand everything by then besides," she gestured to Funmi. "Funmi told me that your general knowledge still remains, it's possible your business knowledge is just laying dormant."
Stella whimpered fearfully and looked at Funmi for support but Funmi shook her head.
"If you want to recover Stella, this is the best way," she explained. "it will be good for you to get involved in the things from your past."
Stella slumped on a chair sullenly in defeat.
"Also, I know this might be overwhelming too but I was thinking of throwing a party for you to celebrate your return" Marlene said, "there are lot of rumours going round and we need to set them straight."
"I am not very fond of that idea too." Stella mumbled.
"It is important for you to do so Stella. This is how things are done here," Marlene smiled sympathetically, "but you don't have to worry, we'll take it slow."
"Okay," Stella reluctantly agreed.
"I better get started with the preparations, this has to be the biggest party ever," Marlene smiled excitedly, unnerving Stella and she left the balcony.
Funmi patted Stella's back supportively then left. Stella sighed deeply, sinking into the chair.
"I never thought I'd see the day the unruffled, confident Stella so insecure," An amused voice sounded and Stella looked back at the only culprit, Megan.
Megan was still filing her nails and she laughed to herself. "I can't wait to see how you fare in a social gathering without your memories. It will be a disaster of a party."
Stella looked at her annoyed and approached her. "What is wrong with you? Why do you act so spiteful towards me? Did I do anything wrong to you?"
Megan scoffed amused, not sparing her a glance. "You? Did something wrong? Your existence itself is wrong to me, and I will never forgive you for it."
