The Girl Behind The Mask

Chapter 17

     Konahamaru yelped as he bumped into a much taller figure, Chiyo came to a sudden stop. She looked at the male that the little boy had collided with. He was tall, maybe a year or two older than herself. There was a female next to him with dirty blond hair, there was a giant fan on her back. Upon closer inspection she noticed that the two of them were wearing headbands from the sand village. The male looked down at Konohamaru with a glare on his face. He picked him up by the collar causing the little boy to start panicking.

"Hey! Let go of him" Naruto yelled a frustrated look on his face. Chiyo's hand hovered over sword incase things escalated. 

"Don't worry, I just wanna break him in half" the male said. Suddenly a rock was thrown from a distance hitting the stranger on the hand. He winced in pain letting go of Konohamaru. The little boy ran over to Chiyo and Naruto. The black haired female gently ruffled his hair in a comforting manner. She looked behind her to see Sasuke jump from one of the tree branches above,

"great, another brat" the male seethed. He pulled something off of his back which was wrapped in white fabric, the girl next to him gave the boy an unsure look on her face. Chiyo immediately grabbed her sword ready to defend herself and her friends.

"Stop" a cold voice said, Chiyo looked over to see a red haired boy jump down from yet another tree. He had no eyebrows and a red mark on his face. His eyes were teal but there was something about them. The only emotion she could see when looking into his eyes was anger an hatred. He gave off an aura of danger that made Chiyo shiver a bit.

"Who is he?" she asked herself trying to stop her body from shaking.

"He's like Naruto" Midnight said,

"you mean he's got a tailed beast sealed inside of him" she asked surprised.

"I'm sorry for the trouble he caused" the boy apologized. The group started to leave but Sakura stopped them.

"You're from the sand village aren't you, what are you doing here?" she asked.

"Have you been living under a rock, we're here for the Chuin exams" the blond female explained.

"I almost forgot about that" Chiyo said to herself.

"If he's one of the people participating then I'm worried" Midnight said. 

"So am I" the black haired girl said in a shaky tone. She watched as the group left,

"How about we get some ramen now" she said trying to lighten up the mood.

"Can we come" the children asked excitedly.

"Sure" she smiled as they cheered loudly.

Chiyo took a deep breath as she removed her Kunai from the tree.

"Still just a little off target" she told herself.

"Do you think you'll be able to participate in the exams" Midnight asked.

"I'm not sure" she said putting her kunai in her weapons pouch.

"But it never hurts to be prepared" she smiled.

"From what I know thr Chuin Exam is dangerous" the wolf said. Chiyo nodded pulling up her mask to wipe the sweat from her face.

"And who knows who I would be going against" she said.

"Especially that boy" Midnight said referring to the red head they met earlier.

  "He seems angry" she said pulling her mask back down. She leaned against the tree.

"But I'll have to take the exam eventually, I can't become a ninja without it" she said.

"I just don't think you should be too confident, it might get you killed" the wolf warned. She looked up to the sky seeing that the sun was beging to set,

"It's getting late, we should be getting home before it gets dark" she said. The wolf nodded disappearing into a puff of smoke.

    "Why do we always have to wait! He's the one that calls us here but he's always late" Naruto complained. Team seven had been called by Kakashi who was late as always.

"You should have expected this, Naruto-kun" she said yawning.

"Kakashi sensei is always late" she told him.

"I didn't even have time to wash my hair" Sakura pouted her arms crossed over her chest.

"I didn't have time to change my underwear" Naruto added.

   "That gross Naruto!" Sakura yelled hitting him on the head.

"I have to agree with Sakura-chan. That is gross" Chiyo said still a bit surprised at how blunt he had been. Sasuke remained silent not paying any mind to his team mates' conversation.

"Sorry I'm late" Kakashi spoke as he finally arrived,

"I got lost on the path of life" he shrugged his shoulders.

"His excuses just keep getting worse" Midnight said. Chiyo nodded letting out a quiet sigh.

"Now, I called all of you here for a good reason" he said. Team seven looked at him with curious looks on their faces.

"I recommended all of you for the chuin exams" he announced. Naruto cheered loudly as Chiyo smiled.

"I guess I will be taking the exams" she said beginning to feel a bit nervous.
