The Girl Behind The Mask

Chapter 10

      "Wow! It's so big" Naruto said as the boat slowly approached the village.

"Be quiet, there's a reason I turned the engine off" the man in the front of the boat said. Chiyo sighed as the group began to climb onto the dock,

  "something doesn't feel right" Midnight said.

"What? do you think someone's following us" Chiyo asked quietly.

"I know someone is following us" Midnight responded appearing next to the black haired female.

"Can you tell who it is" Chiyo questioned, Midnight shook her head.

  "No, but they aren't friendly" she said, the female climbed onto the wolf's back.

"This is an A-rank mission, there is a good chance we'll run into a strong enemy" Chiyo explained. She balanced herself on Midnight's back getting an odd glance from the bridge builder. The wolf ignored it her red eyes flickering around the area in a suspicious manner.

A kunai found itself stuck in the dirt as Naruto threw another one.

"Naruto-kun, you're waisting weapons" Chiyo said. The boy paid little attention to her words his blue eyes scanning the area as if looking for something. A short time later another Kunai was thrown this time becoming stuck in the bark of a near by tree.

"Would you stop that you twirp" Tazuna said scowling at Naruto. However, Chiyo's attention was drawn towards the noise of something hopping out of a bush. Upon closer inspection the girl realized that it was a white rabbit. The animal looked around it's nose twitching before hopping around once more.

"Midnight, there's someone here" Chiyo said,

"That rabbit shouldn't have white fur right now" she continued.

"Watch out!" Kakashi yelled, on instinct Chiyo jumped off of Midnight's back dodging a large blade. It didn't hit anyone instead hitting a tree becoming stuck. Midnight let out a threatening growl staying close to the black haired female. The girl grabbed her sword holding it in front of ger with a tight grip. A tall figure appeared out of the shadows jumping through the air and landing on the handle of his large blade.

  "Chiyo stay back, he's dangerous" Midnight warned,

"thats.." the black haired girl began to say.

"Zabuza" Kakashi spoke, the man looked down at the group his eyes settling onto the team's sensei.

"Kakashi of the Sharingan, am I right" he spoke.

"You're going to half to hand over the old man" he continued.

"This is bad, he's way above our level" Chiyo said, a heavy fog started to rise surrounding the group slowly. Kakashi ran forward attempting to land a blow on the enemy. Zabuza jumped back removing his blade from the trunk of the tree. The fog had completley surrounding team seven.

"I can't see anything" Chiyo said, she couldn't even make out her teammates who were still standing beside her.

"Eight" Zabuna's voice spoke from somewhere in the fog.

"Midnight can you see where he is" Chiyo asked.

"There are eight points" the man's voice continued.

"No, this fog is too thick" the wolf said, Chiyo's eyes scanned the area but the fog was blocking her vision. Suddenly she felt a presence behind her causing her body to become rigid,

"It's over" Zabuza's voice said, this time it was much closer than before.

  "He snuck up on us?!" Chiyo thought becoming panicked. Luckily before he could do any damage Kakashi appeared behind him a kunai held up to his neck. The fog began to clear finally giving Team seven a clear view. They spotted Kakashi standing across from Zabuza both locked in an intense stare down with each other.

  "Midnight, help protect Tazuna" Chiyo instructed.

"What about you" the wolf asked concern in her tone.

"I'll be fine, we need to protect Tazuna" she said. Midnight huffed standing in front of the bridge builder. Kakashi made the next move almost landing a blow on his enemy however Zabuza was quick to dodge his attacks. Suddenly Kakashi was knocked back into the water making a splashing noise. Keeping her sword in hand Chiyo stood ready to fight if it came down to it. However, Zabuza kept his attention on Kakashi as water began to rise around Team Seven's leader. Soon, a sphere had formed trapping Kakashi within it. A zabuza clone appeared facing the rest of team seven. Chiyo's bravery was starting to waver, if even someone like Kakashi was having trouble against the man then she and her teammates would barley stand a chance against someone as strong as him.

    More water clones appeared beging to surround the group.

"All of you run"  Kakashi ordered them, but Naruto shook his head.

"We won't leave you" the black haired female said in a stern tone. Naruto suddenly rushed forward attempting to attack the enemy. He tried throwing a punch but was knocked back, his headband falling off. The metal came into contact with the ground as Naruto's body skidded across the ground.

"Naruto-kun, are you ok" Chiyo asked. The blond nodded, a feeling of frustration began to bubble up in the pit of her stomach. She was training to be a ninja yet she couldn't even handle  a fight. Her hand went towards her sword as if on instinct alerting Midnight of what was going through her head.

"Chiyo don't" the wolf warned, she said nothing begining to rush forward adrenaline rushing through her body.
