"So, are you going to show up for those rehearsals on Thursday night?" Rosa enquired as she poured herself a cup of tea, the following morning, as Ellie sat at the kitchen table eating cereal before heading off to her classes

Ellie shrugged noncommittally, as she went on eating her cereal, not really in the mood to converse with Rosa after her having Brett in the house the night before. Of course Rosa was entitled to invite who she wanted to have around, but knowing her housemate was aware of her feelings about Brett Carter, she thought she might have taken that into consideration. It didn't help that Ellie had the distinct feeling Brett was only hooking up with her housemate and using Rosa, just to get to her, and she couldn't understand why Rosa would allow herself to be used in this way. But she decided the less she said about it the better.

"I don't understand why you are getting so uptight about Brett wanting you to join his band" Rosa now said, as she lifted a piece of toast on her plate and biting into it, "A lot of girls, would be very flattered that he wanted them so badly"

"You weren't thinking that a few weeks back, when you first saw the video of us both on stage, you accused me of getting cosy with him" Ellie reminded her

Rosa had the grace to shift uneasily in her chair at the recollection, "Yeah, but it's different now" she then shrugged

"Why? because you finally got to hook up with him, and I am no longer some sort of threat?" Ellie queried with a slight smirk

"Yeah, there is that," Rosa admitted with a sheepish grin, "but apart from that, I mean getting into a rock band, and the chance to become famous one day, how can you turn that down?" she asked in disbelief, puzzled by Ellie's reluctance of getting involved with Brett and the band

"Well, maybe that's because I find the idea being famous is a bit overrated, and not so appealing, in the grand scheme of things" Ellie replied truthfully, but not looking Rosa in the eye, because her housemate was not aware that Ellie had a famous father who started of in a rock band, so Ellie had some idea of what it was already like in that world and being surrounded by fame and fortune and how it also had more or less forced her father being even more overprotective with her as she grew up, so she had experienced some of the drawbacks, making it easier to dismiss that part.

But what she was having trouble dismissing, was the thought she might also be wasting her talent and potential as a musician, but then following that path it might take her straight back to what she had been trying to escape from, and she wouldn't be leading an ordinary sort of life away from the public eye.

But she wasn't going get into all that right now with Rosa, so she got up, scraping her chair back, and taking her cereal bowl over to the sink to rinse it out, "Anyway, I have to get on, and get ready for college and the real life" For now, she didn't want to think about Brett and the band, and how conflicted it left her feeling about her plans for her future.

Of course when Thursday evening loomed ever nearer, Ellie found herself trying to figure out what she should do, but in the end she decided to show up at Harley's pub. Her plan was to show her face, play a little guitar, and make Brett see what had happened on stage between them all those weeks ago, had just been one off thing, no more than a fluke, because of the mood between them that evening, and there was no real 'chemistry' involved.

Then he would stop wasting his time chasing after her, and go hunting elsewhere for his new lead guitarist. After all, he had promised to leave her alone if things didn't work out during this so called rehearsal session

Still it was hard walking into the backroom snug, upstairs in Harley's pub where Brett, and the other two band members Donny the drummer and Joe on bass guitar were already there, she wondered how the other two felt about her showing up
