Ellie was disturbed from her sleep by the sound of her cell phone ringing. She forced her eyes open and realised it was still dark in her bedroom, and groping for her phone under her pillow, she peered at the lit up screen that told her it was four thirty a.m.

Her phone had stopped ringing, and still weary after a day spent in the recording studio with the band as they attempted to get their second album completed, she decided whoever it was could wait until the morning. She was about to turn it off completely so she wouldn't be disturbed again Only before she got the chance it started to ring again, and now she realised the caller was Brett

"What the hell?" she exclaimed in indignant bewilderment, now sitting up a little, and pressing answer call, to give him a mouthful for calling her at this time of the morning

""Hey Ell, glad you finally answered your phone, I just wanted to let you know I am in a taxi, on my way to your place now, I should be at your front door in five minutes" he informed her before she could say anything

"You are what?" she replied in confusion, not sure if she heard him right, and wondering was this some sort of weird dream she needed to wake up from.

"Yeah.. I finally got it, that riff we needed for the Better days song we were wrestling with at the studio, I think finally figured it out, and I need to go over it with you before it goes out of my head again and I want to try it out" He then informed her happily

"Why can't you just try it out at your own place?" Ellie demanded still trying to grasp the fact he was really doing this, and it wasn't a bad dream

"You are joking, aren't you? He scoffed in an incredulous tone, "it's four in the morning, my neighbours will start complaining If I start playing in my apartment at this hour, I got enough of that last month. So, seeing you are now residing in a nice little private house with no neighbours, no one is going to care how much noise we make. So I thought I would kill two birds with one stone.

"You do know I was sleeping when you disturbed me?" she retorted unhappily.

"Yeah, but you are not now, and I am coming up to your door, so be a sweetheart and let me in" he informed her blithely, then before she had the chance to tell him to go to hell, he hung up

Ellie scrambled out of her bed, to go over to her bedroom window. Outside the sky was just a glimmer of light in the distance where dawn was beginning to break, and sure enough a taxi was pulling up just outside her small driveway, after a moment she could just make out Brett's figure getting out of the front passenger seat with his guitar case. before waving the taxi off with a "thanks mate" Once the taxi moved away, he went up to her front door, but he happened to glance up towards her bedroom window where she still stood, now glaring down at him.

As usual, he seemed completely unperturbed by her glare, and just  stared up at her expectantly. When she still didn't move, he then motioned with a jerk of his head towards her front door indicating he expected her to come and let him in.

Still partly fuming, she left the bedroom and hurried down the stairs crossing the hallway to her front door, unlocking it to open the door confronting  him with obvious disapproval written all over her face." Could this not have waited till we got to the studio, at a decent hour in the day?"

"No, I already explained, I want to get it out of my head now while I am still inspired I need to see how it sounds" Brett replied looking deadly serious as he now stepped into her hallway

Ellie rolled her eyes and closed her front door. She wasn't sure which was worse, the crazy partying Brett, or the serious pragmatic musician,  mode he was in now, who lived in his own little world, assuming everything else revolved around him.
