Thirty One

I knew I should have not let you go on stage and perform last night. We tried to tell you it was not a good idea" Brett eyed a wan Ellie with slight reproach, as both of them, along with Donnie and Joe. climbed out of the hired car that had brought them back to the motel where they were staying.

The three boys had gone to collect Ellie a little earlier, the following afternoon after her collapse, which turned out to be down to some form of nervous exhaustion. She had ended up needing to be in hospital overnight, being pumped with fluids and medication to help retrieve what her body was lacking, once they checked her blood work, and done other tests

But she had just been released by the doctor and allowed to leave, under the strict orders that she had to take plenty of rest and eat properly, and drink plenty of fluids.

"I am sorry for giving you all a scare blacking out like that" Ellie replied a little ruefully, "But I am going to be okay, all I need to do is rest, you heard what the doctor said, and I feel much better already" she then tried to reassure Brett.

"Yes, he said you have to take it easy, so you are going to do that for the next few days until we fly home back to the UK, how the hell I am going to try and explain this to your father when he finds out, is something I am not looking forward too" Brett said a little grimly

Ellie stopped in her tracks, suddenly looking slightly anxious "You haven't said anything to him yet, have you?"

"Well I haven't had a chance, with sitting around that hospital last night worrying about you" he replied tiredly

A look of relief flitted over her face, "I don't want you to say anything to him he mustn't find out, please Brett" she then urged him, clutching his arm.

Brett looked torn, imagining if Jake found out by other means, and he had not informed him about what happened with Ellie, that he would not be happy with him, and give him more reason to dislike him. But at the same time he didn't went Ellie getting herself upset and fretting again after what had just happened, so in the end he found himself relenting

"Ok, I won't say anything, but if he ever does find out, you can make it clear it was your decision, not mine"

"I will, I promise" Ellie happily replied now looking more relaxed again

Once they reached her room, she had to put up with the three of them fussing over her getting her to lie in the bed, making sure she had water, and bringing her snacks to eat if she needed them and making sure she was comfortable.

Donnie and Joe, having settled their minds that she was going to be ok, then left her, so she could get some proper rest, because they noticed she still looked a little weary, despite her protests that she was feeling much better.

Brett stayed on with her, seeming reluctant to leave her on her own But she was glad of his company as he sat next to her on the bed giving her the bottle of water to drink.

"I still don't regret going out on stage last night" she then confessed after taking a sip of the water and setting the bottle beside her on the bed, "Apart from keeling over, after it finished, I think it was one of the best nights on stage from we started touring America"

"Well, yeah, I suppose it had its moments," Brett reluctantly agreed, "But don't ever do anything like that to me again El, when you collapsed you have no idea what went through my mind" he then warned

"I know, it just got a bit crazy for me, I was so stupid, I never realised how bad it was affecting me until last night. But just promise me you will do everything you can to make sure my parents never find out about it.. My dad can't know" she insisted worriedly
