🌿Ivy🌿
I stare sadly as Heather struggles to free herself from the chains. Toothless roars before flying forward. "Well, look who the dragon flew in! Glad you could join us, brother. It wouldn't be a family reunion without you. Now, take out that Night Fury!"
I hear Dagur scream and they start firing on Hiccup. I shake my head and lean forward in my saddle. "Take me to him, girl, but be careful." She growls but does as I ask and flies in my brother's direction. "Dagur! Please, don't do this!"
Nightwing flies in place at the bow of the ship and Dagur turns to look at me, laughing maniacally. I stare at my brother, feeling slight fear fill me, I've never seen him so… well, deranged. "Sister! Been a long time hasn't it!"
"Dagur, please! Stop this," I beg and he stares up at me. "Sorry little sis, but you know I can't do that." I hear Toothless fire and look to see a plasma blast hitting one of the chains only for nothing to happen. "Dragon proof chains?"
Dagur laughs as Hiccup flies overhead. "Nice try, Hiccup. You didn't think I'd make it that easy on you, did you?"
"Mom, wouldn't want this," I blurt out without thinking, forgetting how sensitive Dagur is about our mother. He had more memories of her than I did which is why losing her affected him so much more than me. My brother's eyes narrow in rage and he glares in my direction.
"And how would you know that, Ivy? You don't even have memories of her!" I flinch at his raised voice and knew I might as well be talking to a rock wall. "Ivy! The winches!" I hear Hiccup call to me and I sigh before patting Nightwing's head.
Immediately she fires a plasma blast destroying the winch that's right behind Dagur. My brother exclaims in frustration and I start blasting the other ships along with Hiccup until they were all destroyed, freeing Windshear and Heather.
I fly up and meet Hiccup and Heather. "Heather, you can't take on Dagur and his fleet all by yourself."
"I'm not by myself. I have Windshear."
"Look out!" I shout as something is launched at us and we just barely dodge it. Heather starts heading for the ships again and we follow her. "I'm too close. I might not get this shot again."
"But this is suicide," Hiccup shouts to her begging her to see reason. "I'm wiling to do whatever it takes."
"And are you willing to sacrifice Windshear, too?" I ask her with a glare and she stares down at her dragon. "Heather, there will be another time. I promise you." She stays silent for a moment before exclaiming in frustration and we fly back to the Edge.
Awkward silence fills the space around us only broken by the flapping of our dragons' wings. I sigh and adjust myself in my saddle, stretching my legs out on Nightwing's back, lying on my side. Frankly I didn't even care if I slip off at this point, I'm too tired. I hear Hiccup chuckle slightly in amusement as I curl up on my dragon's back, closing my eyes.
"Blasting the winches, pretty smart," Heather speaks up for the first time since fleeing from Dagur. "Yeah, and a little luck never hurts, either." There's another stretch of silence. "Ivy and I talked to Johann. He told us Dagur wiped out your village. And your family."
I ignore the pain that takes residence in my heart at the thought that I've lost my brother forever. "I'm sorry."
"Then you know why he has to pay." There's another stretch of silence before Hiccup speaks, "I do. But you don't have to do this alone."
"I don't know. It seems like I'm destined to be alone. First, when I was a little girl, I get separated from my birth family."
"Your birth family." I open my eyes, but don't move, staring down into the clouds. "Yes, but I don't remember much. It was so long ago. Just a few pictures in my mind. I remember my father's hands. They were rough, like sandstone, but so gentle."
