"Faye, calm down," a kind, but deep voice speaks and the sound of frantic footsteps fill my ears. "He's back. Dagur, Ivy, Heather, they're not safe as long as I'm here."

"Nonsense. What are you talking about?" I hear more frantic movement and something hits the floor. "Faye! Talk to me! You can't just leave like this!"

"Os, I-I… I can't. The less you know the better. He almost killed Stoick! I won't let him do the same to you or our children. Please, Oswald. Let me go."

"Faye," his voice was strained and full of sadness. "You and the children mean everything to me. This is the only way to keep you safe."

"What'll I tell our son? Our daughters?"

"Tell them…"

I jerk awake with a gasp, my chest heaving as my heart races frantically. "Whoa! What's wrong?" I look over and find Hiccup getting up from his chair, setting his journal and charcoal down on the seat. Nightwing grumbles worriedly and jumps up, placing her front talons on my bed, sniffing at me in concern.

I stroke the side of her head to calm her and force a smile to my face. "I'm okay, girl. It was just a dream." I feel Hiccup push hair out of my face and over my shoulder. I turn to look into his troubled expression and he cups my cheek, searching my face.

"You sure?"

"Yes. I'm fine. No need to fuss over one little dream."

"Didn't seem like a little one," he assesses and I smile for real, leaning into his touch, covering his hand with mine. "I love that you care," I murmur and his concerned expression changes into one of fondness. I push my dream to the back of my mind. That one couldn't have been some repressed memory. No way.

My mother was killed during a dragon raid. Dagur was there when they pushed her out to sea and burned her pyre. It wasn't real. Just something my brain made up. "Do you want to talk about it?" He asks gently and I shake my head.

"No, I'm okay. Wasn't anything important." Nightwing growls gently and nudges me with her snout, making me smile. I push my blanket off and set my feet down on the floor. Toothless yawns from his spot on Nightwing's slab, looking tired.

"Huh."

"What?" Hiccup asks as he walks over to collect his book. "Maybe instead of worrying about me you should worry about yourself. You look exhausted, Hiccup. You should get some rest."

"Not while Viggo's still out there." He looks down at the cover of his book with a determined expression. Ever since Viggo captured that Submaripper and used it to cut off Berk from the trade routes, almost starving them out, Hiccup has been fixated on stopping him.

It's what almost got him hurt during that time when the sun never went away for almost a week. "You're no good to our team if you're exhausted. I thought you already learned that lesson?" He looks into my eyes and nods. "You're right. It's just…"

"Frustrating?" I ask and stand up, walking over to him. "Yes. Coming after me is one thing. But to punish an entire village for stuff we did. He went after my home. If I hadn't been able to free the Submaripper—"

"But you did," I say and place my hand on his shoulder. "You always come up with a solution. You are so smart and so amazing. Viggo may be a great strategist, but you are an even greater problem solver. Which means you will always find a way to put a stop to Viggo's schemes. I believe that with everything I have."

A smile lights up his face and I admire it. He brings his hand up to cup my cheek and leans down, pressing his lips to mine. I close my eyes as my skin warms and my heart quickens in my chest. I open my eyes when he pulls away and smiles warmly, brushing his thumb over my cheek. "Thank you."
