"I warned you, Hiccup Haddock. I warned you not to betray me." I pull my sword from its sheathe and together Hiccup and I back up as she moves forward. I narrow my eyes at Mala and point the end of my weapon in her direction. Three years of war have made me strong and I've faced tougher warriors than her.

"Look, I'm all for winning friends and influencing people, but this mission has gone talons up."

"Way up," Ruff calls in agreement and I keep my eyes trained on the Queen. "Two talons up."

"Seize them!" Mala commands and her people rush towards us. I grab Hiccup's arm and drag him behind me as we make a break for our dragon's. I skid to a stop when two of her tribe get in between us. Astrid managed to get to Stormfly while the rest of us are cut off.

Nightwing crouches down, stretching her wings out with a roar of warning. Light builds up in the two Night Furies mouths as they prepare to fire. Stormfly's spikes rise, Hookfang exhales fire, while Barf and Belch growl along with the rest. All of our dragons will protect us with everything they've got.

"Stop!" Hiccup yells out and holds his arms out, addressing both groups. "Okay, look, you're right, you were tricked, but we were tricked too. Okay?" I keep my sword raised as Hiccup turns to address Mala.

"Viggo used us as a distraction so he could steal your Eruptodon, but without us knowing. We don't work with the Dragon Hunters. They're our enemies."

"And yet, our Eruptodon is gone, our village is in peril from the lava flow, and you hold me in front of your Night Furies." Toothless roars and Hiccup turns to him. "Back off, bud." The blast dies out and and I motion Nightwing to follow his lead. She does what I ask, but remains in attack position, growling quietly.

"We will prove it to you. We'll go rescue your dragon and bring it back. I'll even leave some people here to help you fight the lava."

"Only your best." He turns and looks at my sister. "Heather's a survivalist, she's dealt with lava before." He glances at me and I discreetly shake my head. I'm not staying here. This woman has already threatened to kill him, like, three times. No way am I gonna leave him now. 

"And, uh, Ruff and Tuff…" I look over and lower my sword to my side, cursing internally when I see Tuffnut grabbing a blowgun off of a Defender's back. "Huh, a blowgun. I'm just gonna…" He places his mouth on the wrong end and inhales a stun dart.

"Oh, gods," I murmur as Ruff laughs while he chokes. "Ah! Ugh! Oh, no! Dart throat stings. Losing control of my vocal chord." Snotlout comes over and slaps him on the back forcing him to cough it back up. Only for it to hit Ruff in the forehead.

They both hit the ground, groaning, and Snotlout sighs. "I'm fine," Tuff says hoarsely. "Uh, let's just say they have a lot of experience cleaning up stuff. You can trust us. I swear it." She thinks about it for a moment before lowering her sword.

"I accept your offer, on one condition, I must travel with you to save our beloved dragon." Her guards gasp and Hiccup looks at her. "I thought you didn't fly on dragons?"

"I will do whatever it takes to save the Great Protector." She comes over to us and I tighten my grip on my sword handle. "But if you fail me, I will kill you. If you attempt an escape, I will kill you. If I think at any time—"

"You will kill me. Understood." Not if I kill her first. She glances at me and I don't bother trying to hide my distain. "Then it shall be done." She walks away and I turn to Hiccup.

"Friend of dragons or not, if she makes one move toward you I won't hesitate. Just so you know."

"Ivy," he says reprimandingly and I shake my head. "She's coming with us?" Snotlout comes over, interrupting our conversation. "That's totally gonna mess up our rhythm."
