The last week of summer break went by in a breeze of family outings with mine and Riley's families and thankfully my period had come and gone quickly. The last Saturday had crept up quickly and Ava had once again talked Riley and I into a party.I put on a black and gold strapped sundress with some matching black heels, as well as a light Smokey eye look and met Riley at the door.
He was handsome as usual, wearing some khaki pants and a plain black t shirt. His hair was brushed to the side slightly, and without fail he had put half the time in to get ready and still looked better than I did.
"You ready?" He asked as he took my hand and helped me to his car, opening the door as he usually would if we were going out.
We were half way there when he spoke again, turning the radio down.
"I'm not leaving your side again, not unless Kyle or one of the guys is with you to keep you safe okay?""Riley I'm fine I promise!" I lied. My stomach was in knots over the chance of seeing Carl again.
I needed to get over it though. There was no way I wouldn't see him at school and at some point I would no doubt have to figure out how to deal with him on my own.
When we arrived Riley stayed by my side as he had promised. His arm stayed fixed on my waist or hand, almost as if he were afraid I would vanish. I didn't mind though, it was a comforting feeling that he was still with me.
I was several drinks in and definitely tipsy when I finally had to pee. Riley helped me upstairs to the bathroom and waited outside the door while I did my business as I laughed at myself.
I stumbled out of the door when I opened it, falling into Riley's arms.
"Hey handsome, your momma let you date?" I chuckled as the alcohol started to hit, making my head feel fuzzy.
"You're cute when your drunk!" He smiled. When we got to the stairs I was struggling to keep my balance. Riley didn't hesitate to carry me downstairs, setting me down at the bottom.
We walked back outside and Riley started replacing my drinks with water. I didn't complain, it was actually pretty sweet for him to be taking care of me. He hadn't touched a drop of alcohol all night even though I knew he wanted too.
We walked over to Kyle, Brett, and some of the other kids from school who were all watching Ava and some girls playing drunk twister.
"Oooo, I wanna play!" I hiccuped laughing.
"Britt no, you can barely stand." Riley pleaded.
"Pleeeaase!!" I begged.
"It's not a good idea, we can play twister at home if you want but you don't really want to flash everyone here." He said calmly. My brain was turning to mush, most likely from all the alcohol hitting me at once. I leaned into Riley and lowered my voice. "Fine, but I wanna play it naked!" I said boldly.
Riley just laughed as Kyle coughed and the other guys laughed.
"Riley did you really let Britt get drunk?" Brett asked.
"She doesn't need my permission, plus I'm not drinking so I'm fully committed to taking care of her." Riley replied.
"Yeah, Brett." I slurred "I don't need his per.mis.sion." I chuckled as everyone just laughed with me.Brett was laughing the hardest as he put his hands up "you're right Britt, I'm sorry!" He apologized.
After a while I was struggling to keep my eyes open as I swayed back and forth against Riley.
"You ready?" He asked as I nodded. "Kyle you wanna help me? I'll pull the car up if you'll wait with her at the door?" He continued.
"Sure." Kyle said as he followed Riley and I back into the house to the front door.
