Chapter 29 - Midnight Conversations

Jack POV

For the last couple of days, I haven't seen Jenn at all, and it's killing me. It feels like I'm back in Connecticut all over again. She has been working on some major things with Andrea for her Youtube channel and for AwesomenessTV all week. We've only communicated through text, and I haven't seen her face since last weekend. Well, that's a lie, being that we've Skyped a couple of times, but let's be real here, her full beauty cannot be captured on a webcam.
Suddenly, I feel a slight buzz from my jean pocket that makes me jump and interrupts my thoughts.
Jenn❤️: Ugh how can I concentrate in meetings today when you decide you post a selfie on Instagram? 😍 ;)
I smirked. I missed my Jenn. If I had the chance to see her in person right now I would kiss her. I bit my lip, something I don't usually do; I must have picked it up from Jenn. I went to type to message her back, when I suddenly remembered it was her birthday this weekend. I smiled and continued typing.
Jack: Oh stop it ;) making me blush ❤️ Anyways, I'm pretty sure it's someone's birthday this weekend, but not sure though ;)
She responded almost immediately:
Jenn❤️: I thought you would have forgotten ;) but yes actually, I'm planning on having a party at the o2l house. Be there or be square ;) ❤️
Jack: Of course bae ❤️ I'll be there. Maybe I'll have a special surprise for you, just cuz it is your special day and all ;)
Thank god. I would finally get to see Jenn on her birthday. It had to be perfect, for the perfect girl after all. That reminds me, I had to get her a gift. Crap. I was always bad at picking out gifts for people. Hopefully somewhere in my brain there was a good gift idea for Jenn. It had to be just as beautiful and wonderful as the person receiving it.

TIME SKIP

After looking through too many stores at the shopping centre, I had just about given up. I needed someone's advice. I took out my phone and dialled the first person that I could think of.
"Hello?" The voice said.
"Hi mom, it's Jack!"
"Oh Jack! How are you? How's your new place in LA? Is everything okay?" My mom said, bombarding me with questions.
"Great! Actually, I was calling to ask you some advice."
"Of course, Jack! What did you need?" She said.
"Well, I've been into every store in the mall, and I still can't find the perfect gift for Jenn for her birthday. I'm clueless when it comes to girls, so what should I get her?"
I heard an excited gasp as well as some laughing on her end, great, my mom must have put me on speaker phone.
"Wait a minute, Jack. Is Jenn.... Your girlfriend?" She said curiously.
Shit, I forgot that my parents didn't know about Jenn.
"Oh! Yes she is, I forgot that you guys didn't know."
From her end I heard one of my cousins shout, "Ooh Jack's got a girlfriend," followed by another shout from another cousin, "Jack and Jenn sitting in a tree, K. I. S. S. I-"
This was followed by my mother screaming to be heard over the shouting, "All of you be quiet!" The sudden silence filled the room and my mom continued, "Jack, that is great, we are all happy for you."
"Thanks mom, but that makes it more difficult to pick out a present for her. What should I get her?"

TIME SKIP

Jenn POV

I had to admit, this whole "avoiding your boyfriend in order to surprise him with a prom" thing was much harder than I thought. I felt so bad turning down his offers. I just had to remember that it would all be worth it in end.

So far, all of the planning is going great! Anthony and Andrew got catering for the evening and sent out invitations to all of our youtube friends, and Andrea and Rebecca had bought some awesome decorations for the house! I was so excited! It would be the best night ever! Did I mention I also arranged the prom to be held on my birthday? That way, Jack wouldn't be suspicious about me not having a party, and it would be an awesome gift for both of us. It wouldn't be as formal as a regular prom, because knowing our friends, they wouldn't feel like dressing in tuxedos and full prom dresses. However, the intention would be there; we would have a slow dance, along with the many other songs that Ricky and Connor put on the playlist, and we would have a photo booth. This would be the best birthday weekend ever!

Jack POV

I scrolled through Twitter, looking through the updates posted by many of my friends that night, waiting for the perfect moment to post my birthday tweet to Jenn. It sucked that I couldn't make it as lovey as I wanted to, being that the fans believe we are just best friends. I smirked at the thought, being we were much more than that.

11:59 p.m. , July 8th

I went to my drafts and hovered my finger over the "Tweet" button, waiting for what seemed like hours, when it was only a few seconds.

12:00 a.m. , July 9th

Your tweet has been posted.

Thats0jack: @jennxpenn HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABE!!! ❤😁️Hope it's just as amazing as you!

I smiled at the tweet, waiting for Jenn to respond on Twitter. I knew she was awake, being she just liked my new Instagram selfie. In the meantime, I texted her something much more meaningful.

Jack: Happy Birthday Jenn Jenn! ❤️I love you so much, and if you were with me right now I would hold you tight and kiss you. But don't you worry, there will be more of that tomorrow night ;) Skype?

Jenn: Thank you so much Jacky! I love you too, more than you will ever know! ❤️ I can't wait for tomorrow now ;) Sure, skype sounds good :)

Just then, I got a Twitter notification, informing me Jenn responded to my tweet.

Jennxpenn: @thats0jack Thank you Jack! ❤️

I smirked. I compared the two thank-yous and almost laughed out loud. I wondered when we should come out to the fans as a couple. It's something we never really talked about before. I shrugged. Maybe it would be better if we stayed a secret, just at least for a little while anyways.

Suddenly, I heard the famaliar skype sound come from my laptop, and I pressed the connect button, accepting Jenn's skype call.

"Hey there, birthday girl!" I said, as soon as I saw Jenn's beautiful face in front of me.

"Hey! Whatcha doing?" She asked, in her usual perky voice.

"Nothing much, just talking to a beautiful girl via skype."

Even through the crappy quality webcam, I could clearly see the light shade of red that had spread across her cheeks, making her smile.

"Stop that!" Jenn seriously at first, but then cracked a smile and laughed.

"That's exactly why I don't stop, you look cute when you blush."

Jenn raised her eyebrows, shook her head and changed the subject, "Are you excited for tomorrow?"

"Oh my god, yes!" I said excitedly.

"Good! Now one more thing, wear something nice," she said, then quickly corrected herself, laughing, "Wait, that's not what I meant! I mean like dress fancy," Jenn laughed. God, her laugh was so cute.

"Okay good, for a second I thought you were insulting my fashion sense Jenn!" I laughed, "But fine, just for you, I'll dress nice," I smirked.

She clapped her hands in excitement, "Perfect! I can't wait to see you! I have to go now get some sleep, but I'll see you tomorrow!"

"Okay baby, night Jenny, I love you! I hope you sleep well!"

"Night Jack, I love you more!" She said before ending the skype call.

I put my laptop on my desk, powering it off and reaching for my phone. I climbed into bed and checked Instagram where Jenn had posted a picture of us that she must have taken our skype call. I smiled as I read the caption.

Jennxpenn: Thankful for midnight skype calls with @thatsojack! So glad this boy was the first person to wish me a happy birthday kinda-sorta in person :) ❤️

Slight change of subject, I'm kinda sad that there was no Jackxpenn selfie during Playlist Live :( I hope that nothing bad happened between them! But, congrats to Lauren and Jenn for making a movie!!!! I'm so excited for that! Until next time, BYEEE!
