Chapter 3 - Shoulder to Cry On

Jenn POV

We were all playing truth or dare in the living room and Jack got dared to pour cold water all over him. I have to admit, he looks kinda cute soaking wet. Ugh! Seriously Jenn! Get it together! you like Matt, not Jack! But that reminds me, I had to break up with him sooner or later. But how? I have no idea.

Jack went upstairs to get changed and we continued playing. I must have been zoned out because before I knew it, Anthony was yelling in my ear, "Girl do you need a hearing aid?"

I shoke my head, "Sorry, what?"

Ricky spoke up from across the circle, "I said, truth or dare?"

"Dare" I usually never pick dare, and to be honest, I was kinda nervous.

"Ugh fine! I had a question picked out, but whatever! I dare you to wear an article of clothing of Jack's" Ricky stated.

Of course it had to be Jack. I felt my cheeks starting to turn red so I tried to play it off as a cough attack. I know it didn't work, but it was worth a shot.

"You okay?" I heard a familar voice beside me. I turned to my left to see Jack, he must have snuck in beside me without me noticing. Oh great, Im sure that my cheeks were now a bright red.

"Yeah," I muttered, "Just fine."

"Ahem. So, is the dare happening or are you too chicken Jenn?" Ricky said.

I hated that word. I hate when people call me that.

I glared at Ricky jokingly and turned to Jack, who already was taking off his flannel revealing a dark grey shirt underneath.

Damn it, I wished that he wasn't wearing anything underneath. Ugh stop it Jenn!

Jack jokingly tossed it at me. I laughed as I put it over top of my light grey baseball tee.

Just then, I felt a light buzz from my jean pocket. Crap. I didn't even need to check my phone to know that it was Matt. There wouldn't be anyone else texting me.

New message from Matt:

Matt ❤: Call me. We need to meet, I have something to tell you.

The thought of him talking to me face to face made me sick. I whispered to Jack "I'll be back"

"Everything okay?" Jack said worried.

I nodded, biting my lip nervously, and went upstairs to the bathroom to call Matt.

I dialed his number trembling. Why was I so scared? Maybe this was the time to do it. I could break up with him right now. No I can't! I just can't. Then I heard his voice.

"Hey baby"

"Hey" I said.

"Meet me at the pier in 15 minutes? We need to talk"

Before I even had a chance to respond, he hung up. I took a deep breath, and snuck downstairs past everyone to the front door.

As I started to open the front door, someone grabbed my arm and pulled me back. I turned around to see, Jack. I had a worried expression on my face and I looked down.

"Jenn? What's wrong?" He said slowly.

"Nothing, it's... N-nothing." I said looking up at him. I didn't wanna pull him into this.

He let go of my arm slowly, and nodded, "Okay, I trust you." I bit my lip and turned my back to the house and got in my car to drive to the pier.

When I got to the pier, I began to look around. Then, suddenly I saw a couple walking hand in hand toward me. Was that? Oh my god. It was Matt with a beautiful blonde haired girl, headed straight for me.

I didn't know what to say, I just stood there shocked. Matt approached me, leaving the girl a few steps behind.

"Jenn, I didn't think you'd come," Matt said.

"Well here I am," I sniffed, "Care to explain her?" I said quietly, trying to hold back tears.

"Look, Jenn, Long story short, Emma's my girl now, and we're done," He said, getting a little louder on the "done"

I smelled alcohol on his breath. He had changed. He never used to drink when he was with me, let alone at all.

"But Matty, I just don't understand," I said quietly.

"Oh Jenn, I'm not your Matty anymore," Matt smirked, grabbing Emma by her waist. Matt kissed her cheek, and laughed a bit towards me.

"Come on Emma, let's go, baby," Matt smirked.

My mouth was wide open. I was speechless. I watched them walk away before bursting into tears. This was what I wanted, to be broken up, but not like this. Not to be cheated on. I broke down, collapsing to the ground, sobbing even more now.

New message from Jack:

Jacky ❤: Jenn Jenn? Where did you go? You okay?

I went to type back, but my fingers wouldn't move. My whole body was in shock, and my mind replayed the whole situation back, bringing another flow of tears.

TIME SKIP

Eventually, I made it back to the O2L house, and tried to dry my tears, but I knew my eyes were puffy and red. I walked into the house quietly, hoping to pass everyone and go to bed.

Most of the O2L boys and 3/5 were playing Mario Kart in the living room, and the rest were probably in random other rooms upstairs. I tried to sneak upstairs, but Rebecca and Andrea saw me and pulled me aside into another room.

"Jenn, what happened?" Andrea said, looking at my puffy eyes.

I tried to speak, but nothing would come out. Suddenly I burst into tears, sobbing into Rebecca's lap while Andrea gently rubbed my back.

Eventually, I spoke.

"M-matt, h-he broke u-up with m-me." I said in between sobs.

Andrea and Rebecca looked at each other, but stayed silent, and let me talk.

"I dont k-know what happened, h-he just bought a-another random g-girl with him, and told m-me we were done." I cried.

"He was an ass anyways," Rebecca said, hugging me. That made me laugh a bit.

"I guess e-everything happens for a r-reason," I said, wiping my tears.

Both of them hugged me again, and we opened the door. Anthony, Jack, and Andrew fell to the floor in front of us. Great, they were listening to our entire conversation.

Rebecca and Andrea headed back into the living room, taking Anthony and Andrew with them. Leaving Jack and I alone in the spare bedroom.

"Hey Jenn Jenn, you okay?" He whispered, pulling me into a hug.

"N-n-no" I sniffled, starting to cry again.

He held me close while I cried, and we sat on the bed, just talking as I started to calm down.

"I'm sorry Jenn," He said, "What a dick," he muttered under his breath.

"I heard that," I muttered, laughing a bit.

"Why dont we watch a movie? Mean girls?" He suggested.

I nodded. We both layed down beside each other on the bed, and started the movie.

The whole time, I had one thought in my mind, I love Jack.
