Chapter 1 - Complicated

A/N: Firstly, this is my first fanfic so if you think I could improve on anything, let me know. Second, I am writing this first chapter on my phone, so please excuse the small spelling or grammar errors. Thirdly, like I said in the description, some things in the story like the date of events might not be accurate or realistic, but I have done it this way for the purpose of the story. Anyway, enjoy the story!

Jenn POV

We were walking on the beach, the sunset was beautiful, like a picture you would see in a movie. It was amazing. He was amazing. You let go of his hand and turned towards him. His smile was gorgeous, and his eyes, oh his eyes were a dreamy shade of dark brown. He wrapped his tan arms around you and you feel safe, as if the rest of the world had disappeared. He kissed your forehead sweetly and leaned in for a kis-

DING! DING! DING!

You fluttered your eyes open to the bright day light streaming in through your open window. Ugh! You were dreaming about Jack again, weren't you. The thought of his smile made you blush. Jenn what are you doing? You have a boyfriend, Matt. And you love Ma-

DING! DING!

I reached over for my phone on the nightstand, only to drop it on the ground. God Damnit! Picking it off the ground, you checked the time. 12:15? Crap! Had I slept that long? Well I was having a great dream after all. Stop it Jenn! You don't love Matt! I-I mean Jack! You love Matt and not Jack, right??

DING!

Jesus! What is wrong? I unlocked my phone only to see, 44 messages!? Of course, from the Fab Five group chat, who else?

I read through them. Most were inside jokes. Typical Fab Five. I skimmed through, until I saw one that caught my attention.

Jacky: So, we visiting LA this week? Remember we made plans last month. 5/5 collab? Ring a bell?

I quickly went to text back, until Anthony beat me to it.

Lil Tony: BITCHES! WE CAN GO BACK TO THE BEACH!

Becks: YASSSSS!

I responded, just let them know I was alive.

Jenn: Sounds good! I'll pick ya guys up!

Andrew was the first one to notice my message.

Andy: Look who finally decided to wake up?

Lil Tony: Oh please, give her a break, she was probably tired from working the corner all night

That made us all laugh. Typical Fab Five. We were insane.

Just then I got a text from Jack:

Jacky: It's okay boo, I know you don't work the corner, or at least not that late anyways

I smirked and blushed a little. Why does Jack always do this to me? Matt never makes me feel that way. But I have to remind myself, Jack is your best friend! Matt is your boyfriend! Get together Jenn! I don't even know why I'm still with Matt. We never went on dates, and we don't really talk anymore. It's like our connection is totally gone. I've tried to break up several times, but I'm scared. Not of him, just of regret. But what if I don't regret it? I would have to break up first to find out. I just can't do it! Matt loves me, but do I feel the same way? Ugh! Why is this so complicated!?

Just then, another text from Jack:

Jacky: You there Jenn Jenn? Can't wait to see you next week

I responded just as Andrea ran into my room.

"What the hell Jenn? I've been calling you for like 5 minutes! Are we going shopping or not?" She yelled.

Opps! I guess I was distracted on my phone.

"Oh sorry, I guess I was just distracted," I apologized.

"Mhmm, sure. Just be ready by 1," She said.

DING!

New message from Jack:

Jacky: Cya this week! Love ya Jenn Jenn ❤

I must have blushed because I next thing I knew, my phone was being ripped out of my hands by Andrea.

"Why are you blushing? Is it Matt? You guys are too cute!" She screamed like an excited 14 year old girl.

"Andrea! Give me my phone!"

"No way! I gotta see this text first!" She screamed, running out of the room.

CRAP! She's gonna see Jack's text. I got out of bed as fast as I could, but it was too late.

"Jenn? What's going on?" She asked, worried.

She stared at her, blushing slightly at the thought of Jack saying he loved me. But we always said we loved each other! We're best friends, nothing more, right?

She saw me blush and smirked, "Two timer are we? Or did you finally break up with that idiot and finally choose someone who actually loves you?"

I didn't know what to say. She was right, not about a break up, but about Matt being an idiot. But I couldn't break up with him, i just didn't know how. Then I thought about Jack, he was so cute, and maybe, just maybe he did love me.

I sighed. Andrea just looked at me, crossing her arms. Both of us knew she was right. I just didn't know how to admit it, even to myself.

Andrea knew she won, and gave me back my phone.

"Come on, cheer up. When the time comes, you'll know. Just go get ready, we leave in a half in hour," She said, turning her back and heading to her room.

I just stared for a bit, thinking. I have to break up with Matt. Not to be with Jack, just to give myself a break. Less stress would be great right now.

I realized I never responded to Jacks text. shit! I quickly typed back that I loved him and I couldn't wait to be reunited before getting into the shower. The same thought repeated in my head: Why is this so complicated?
