Sirius had tossed and turned in his bed for what felt like hours before his mind settled enough to fall into a slumber.

And as he entered his dream world, the first thing that caught his eye was a very enraged-looking Evelyn sat crosslegged on the tattered, macrame rug that covered the oak floor of the Hufflepuff common room. The instant she noticed his presence, her glare hardened, and Sirius swore he could feel the daggers shooting from her eyes.

He gulped, his throat suddenly feeling dry as he prepared to speak, though his initial hesitation seemed to have cost him precious time. Before he had even managed a sound, Evelyn leaped from her position on the floor and was now marching toward him, the furious expression on her face causing Sirius's eyes to widen in fear.

"Uhh, Ev—OW!"

Suddenly he was gripping his left leg, pain radiating through the entire span of his shin.

"You kicked me!" Sirius exclaimed dumbly, slack-jawed, staring at her as though she were a madwoman.

Evelyn rolled her eyes, "Yeah, you must be a genius to have figured that one out," she scoffed.

"Well, what in the bloody hell did you do that for?!"

"What did I do it for—are you truly that stupid?!"

Sirius stayed silent; considering that he still had absolutely no idea what she was angry about, the answer to that question was most likely yes—of course, he would never admit it.

A frustrated groan left Evelyn's mouth as she threw herself back down on the rug. Sirius couldn't help but notice how adorable she looked when she was angry—like a little, puppy who had their bone taken away—though, considering his shin still felt like it was on fire, he thought it best not to mention that at the moment.

Sirius let out a hesitant breath before speaking, "Listen, I know that you're upset, but if you just tell me—"

"No," Evelyn bit out, "You got yourself into this mess, you can figure it out on your own. This is a problem for you to deal with when you wake up. For now, you can keep being a big, stupid, idiotic, short-sighted, brainless—"

"Okay, I think I get it—"

"—imbecile." Evelyn finished, letting the insult glide off her tongue and looking quite relieved to have gotten those words off her chest. "Besides, we have other things to deal with here—more important things than you and your pea-sized brain—"
