The girls had been insistent on heading straight to Lily and Marlene's dormitory as soon as they departed from the Great Hall—Evelyn was not exactly sure why, though she had a sneaking suspicion that it had something to do with her and Sirius's behavior during dinner. Unfortunately, Evelyn's hopes that they might have overlooked the awkward glances and stuttered words were fading.
"Take a seat, Berman," Marlene ordered formally, eyeing the brunette suspiciously as they entered the scarlet-adorned bedroom. Evelyn glanced curiously at the other two, both of who were sharing similar expressions to Marlene, before obeying and sitting atop Lily's worn, leather trunk.
Marlene was rummaging through her trunk on the opposite side of the room, pulling out nearly every item of clothing in her way. Evelyn, feeling quite uncomfortable on the hard, uneven surface of the trunk, watched with curiosity as sweaters, socks, and pajama pants flew throughout the room, and finally halting, Marlene found the item she had been searching for.
Leaning to the side to get a better view, she watched the Gryffindor don a pair of darkly tinted, thin-rimmed sunglasses.
"Marlene, what are you—"
Suddenly, with a delirious expression on her face, the girl spun around, nearly causing Evelyn to fall off the trunk in surprise.
"EVELYN BERMAN, THIS IS AN INTERVENTION!" Marlene yelled, pointing a finger at the frightened Hufflepuff.
"WHAT—"
"Marlene, this is not a bloody intervention," Lily said with an eye roll as the blonde grumbled in disappointment. "And, you really need to cool it with the muggle television shows."
Obviously not pleased with Lily's interruption of her much-anticipated monologue, Marlene lazily fell back onto her bed, sulking as the others took the lead.
"Though, this is not an intervention," Holly said, glancing back at the moody blonde, "We do have a few questions for you, Ev—it's more of an interrogation, really."
Evelyn knew that, whatever this was, it would not work out in her favor—she was terrible at keeping secrets, especially when being coerced by her friends. She had to fight herself to keep her thumb away from her mouth; her nervous habit of nail-chewing would be a dead give-away.
Pacing back and forth in front of the trunk and using her knowledge of Evelyn's poor ability to hold secrets to her advantage, Lily eyed the anxious brunette skeptically before finally breaking the silence, "Tell me, Evelyn. Why is it that you and Sirius were acting so...odd at dinner?"
She did not dare look in the redhead's eyes, knowing that one glace from the girl might send the word-vomit spewing.
"Evelyyyyn," Holly said, sounding like a mother trying to coerce a confession out of her child. "What happened between you and Sirius?"
