All filled up with pasta and dessert, Evelyn and Lexy slowly made their way up to the common room to relax for the rest of the night, seeing as both of the girls' tummies were satisfied and bodies feeling quite tired from the events of the day.
Much to Evelyn's dismay, the Wise Wanderer decided to pick her brain this time upon requesting entrance to the room.
"So, my girl, have you decided what you are going to do about your offer to study at Hogwarts next year? I personally think it would be a great experience for a young, bright student like yourself."
"No," Evelyn responded shortly, seeing the man's face shifting into a small frown. A bit of guilt crept up on her as she saw his expression. She often felt sorry for the Wise Wanderer, for all he wanted was to check up on the Pukwudgies and aid them in their endeavors, however, it becomes quite annoying having a portrait pry into your life each time you want to enter your own common room.
The girls lounged around, Evelyn spending most of her time reading and gnawing on her fingernails, not feeling particular talkative, while Lexy chatted with some of their housemates.
A few hours had gone by and Evelyn no longer found herself focused on her reading but instead on the thoughts that were racing around in her mind. She tried to shut them out and turn her attention back to her book, but it was no use. Her mind was disobedient, and no longer wanting to fight it, she decided to head to her dorm and call it a night.
Sleep always did make her feel better. It was the one time where her mind did not seem to wander. She had not remembered having a single dream since she was a little girl. The last one she could recall was when she was about four or five and she dreamt of a sparkly, blue unicorn who had successfully snuck into her bedroom and ate her favorite pillow.
Let's just say, it was not a great experience.
Evelyn said goodnight to her best friend and climbed her way up to her dorm, letting her self topple over into her bed when she got there. As soon as her head hit the pillow and her legs were under the blanket, her eyes shut, and the thoughts that troubled her mind drifted away.
But, little did Evelyn know, that her mind did not simply halt all activity once she fell into a slumber. Quite the opposite actually, as she tended to dream more frequently than the average person. These dreams were not ordinary either, for Evelyn had almost full control over the events that would occur and the locations they would take place.
The one element she did not seem to have complete control of were the people who inhabited her dreams.
Often times she would find herself surrounded by total strangers, never once had she recognized someone from her real life.
Though, there was one person in particular that made her furious at the fact that she had no power when it came to summoning visitors. Someone whom she saw often, but never quite got enough of.
