*Dylan's Pov*

We've been in this chopper in silence for about two in a half hours. It feels like forever that we've been up here. I can't help but to think about if my friends made it or not. Did my plan work? Was it even worth it? They could've been dead before I even dropped the nade for all I know.

I just have to hold out for hope that they have, no matter how tough the chances were stacked against us are.

I still find it hard to believe that any of this is real, as I don't know what that was back on the roof and the nursing room. What's wrong with me?

"Approaching destination in T-minus ten minutes." Carlos radioed someone with his headset.

I look over to Maria who was sitting across from me. She had her eyes closed and arms folded. But she wasn't asleep, she just sat there like she was meditating.

"Does Thomas know what you've done today?" I asked breaking the silence.

"You're father has no idea. He doesn't have that type of jurisdiction nor level of authority for a mission like this, to call any shots. Even if it was about his own son." Maria explained without even opening her eyes.

"Then why do it? Why kill all of those people, my friends, my family? My brother, my sister, and the woman I love could be dead right now all because of you. And you could careless. Just to save me, your son, the one you're supposed to love and protect. But you put me in the most danger I've ever been in. You selfish piece of shi-"

"ENOUGH!!" She yelled while whipping her head to me. Her eyes were glossy like she was holding in tears. "You forget your place boy. I am your mother damnit. You think it was easy for me making that decision, knowing you'd hate me. Especially with Olivia, I meant it when I said she was my favorite. You might not believe me but I do appreciate how she made you feel. Even when before you guys became a couple. That's why I asked her to come, but the mission is you. And not even her is gonna stop me from completing the mission. My family will be back together, whatever means necessary."

"You don't even sound like my mother. We might be in the same room and share the same blood, but we are never a family. Not anymore." Before she could say anything Carlos interrupted her.

"Aye mi amigos, we're here." I look out the window and seen a military base with gates surrounding it. There's a few guards outside but not as much I would of thought.

The chopper starts to descend onto a grounded helipad. I look to Maria who just puts her hand up, signaling me to wait. She grabbed hold of her walkie talkie, brings it to her mouth, and presses the button.

"Asset on board, no bites, bring us down."

"Copy that, bringing you down now." A voice on the radio responded. Without a second wasted the ground starts to rumble and darkness is cast inside the chopper. But not for long as lights start to come on from outside. I see silver metal walls with lights attached all around us, as we descend to wherever the hell this place is.

"Welcome to Phoenix base Alpha, goregous." Carlos chuckled.

Everything quits shaking and comes to a stop. The soldier that killed Tyler gets up and opens the chopper door. The other two soliders plus Carlos exit, leaving Maria and I in the helicopter.

"Let's get you settled in." Maria said while getting out of the helicopter. I take a deep breath and follow after her. I step out onto the helipad next to Maria taking in the view.

This place is freaking huge. There's about six rows of blue tents, next to each about two wrangler jeeps, and four huge antennas towering over the four corners of the base. A group of soliders marched to us, saluted, and then kneeled.

"One of you tell the board there will be a meeting in about twenty minutes, and the mission was a success. The rest of you report to upper base and continue training. And help the grunts take care of the Muertos." Maria ordered. They all stood in unison and saluted.

"Yes commander Robbins sir." They  yell in unison and disperse into the jobs that they where told to do.

Maria begins to walk ahead with her hands behind her back. I still can't believe that my parents were living double lives this whole time. This is still surreal, even more than the fact that the dead are walking the earth.

"Follow me son, I'll take you to your quarters." Maria told me as she kept walking forward. I followed her without a complaint. I was to exhausted to even argue. We pass by a bunch of men, women, and people in hazmat suits.

All of the tents we walked pass were closed up, except for a couple that were mean't for medical reasons. We came to a stop in front of a big blue tent in the middle of the forth row. Maria stands next to the curtain with her arms folded.

"This is it sweety."

"Where are the bathrooms at?"

"In there. Everyone has their own bathroom." She replied calmly.

"So I'm gonna go in there and it's gonna be a bed and a hole like a underground prison. Got it." I said sarcastically as I push the curtain to the side and walk in. I was immediately stopped as I ran into a plexiglass door face first. What the fuck is a door doing here?

"Oh sorry, I forgot to tell you there's a door and I have to turn the light on." Maria snickered. I gave her a side eye death look. She rolled her eyes as her foot moved to a fake piece of flooring. She steps on it and a light shines in the tent.

Through the clear plexiglass door, I can see a brown carpet floor with a full sized bed that had a dark blue cover and two pillows on it. Next to it was a desk with a tv remote on top. Across from it was a glass door and through it shone a shower, toilet, and sink. The walls are white in a foam texture.

I open the door and walk inside. I look around and spot a flat screen tv on the wall. This room is pretty small but it looked pretty big from how neat it was. A knock on the glass door threw me out of my examination. I turn to see a man with a scruffy beard, wearing a black turtleneck, blue jeans, and black dress shoes. It was my dad, Thomas Robbins.

"It's really great to see you my son. We have a lot to discuss."
