*Claire Pov*
*Nurses room*
*10 minutes earlier*
After we finished discussing the plan to get to the helicopter, I noticed Olivia was upset about something. I see her give Dylan a kiss and walk into the back room closing the door. I grab my gray bookbag and put it on my back. I made my way to the back room, place my ear on the door, and gently knock on the door.
"It's Claire." I notified.
"Come in." Olivia cried. I opened the door to see Olivia whiping tears off her face, sitting on the floor in the small white room, between the gray filing cabinets that now holds medical supplies other then the files of the kids who used to go the school. I came in and close the door, sitting up against the door across from her.
"What's wrong?" I asked her. The look on her face when I asked, was a lot similar to Dylan's and Johnny's faces when they got on the bus at Hope. She looks at me with sad eyes.
"I..I..I killed him. He has people who cares about him and I took that away from them. He had a life and me out of all people took that away from him. Before the dead walked, I had trouble killing spiders and now-." She stopped as tears came down her face. "I had to act fast, I knew what Jenny was planning, I knew none of you had a clue what was going on. It had to be me so I didn't hesitate and went for it. Now he's dead and I feel like I'm gonna throw up."
I grabbed her shakey hand off her leg and held it.
"You saved us Olivia. Yeah you're right we didn't know what the hell she was planning but you did. You're smart enough to know that without even saying a word to her. I know he's your first and it's hard, but he's damn sure not gonna be the last. In order to live in this world, we are gonna do a lot of things we are not proud of and that's includes...k-killing someone. It's kill or be killed now and it's not something I'm looking forward to doing, but I'm gonna have too, to protect the people I love. Just like you protected all of us."
I look at my beautiful wedding ring on my finger and smiled. I whisper to myself..."Whatever it takes."
I look up at Olivia, she starts to wipe her tears and nod.
"Thank you for checking up on me." She smiled. I place my hand on the white wall to the right of me to help myself off the floor. I reach my hand out to Olivia and she takes it.
"That's what sisters are for." I said as I help her up. She gets up on her feet, leans in, and gives me a hug. I hug her back while trying to hold back tears. "C'mon lets get out of here." I told her and we part away from each other and she nods.
I turn around and place my hand on the doorknob, opening the door. I see Tyler, Simon, Robert, Troy, Nicole, Sam, Matt and Jenny all gather by the brown desk talking. I walk over to them.
"You guys ready?" I asked.
"Yeah we are. Just waiting on you guys." Troy answered.
"Okay I'll let Dylan and Johnny know." I told them. I look over towards the window and spot them hugging. I walk over to them and as they part away from each other, I stand next to my husband.
"We're ready when you are." I informed them. They both nod and Dylan heads over to where he was sitting last. I look at Johnny's worried eyes and I grin. I put my hand on his face and give him a peck on the cheek.
"Hey we got this baby. The odds aren't in our favor, but we just have to hope that this will all work out in the end." I said reassuringly.
"I don't know babe something just feels off. I'm having a bad feeling and I don't like it." He sighed while starring at the group. I turn to my left and spot Olivia walking to us with her bookbag and quiver of arrows on her back, while holding her bow.
"Ready?" She asked us.
"Yeah...let's do this." Johnny answered while taking a deep breath.
I look over towards the group and see Dylan storming off to the door. He goes to open it and immediately turns around with a frighten look on his face, like he just seen a ghost.
"THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!" He cried out angrily and confused. Everyone goes silent and stares at him. From the corner of my eye, I see Olivia slowly approaching him.
"B-Babe what's wrong?" Olivia asked while reaching her hand out. He completely ignores her and runs to the window starring at the thousands of growlers with a stunned look on his face.
"W..Where did they go?" Dylan cried out scared and confused.
"Dyl-" Johnny started to say but was interrupted as the door flies open. A bunch of Phoenix soliders rushes in.
I quickly draw my knife as one comes after me with a shotgun and no helmet. He attempts to hit me with the end of his gun but was stopped by a metal bat hitting him in the leg, dropping him onto one knee. I glance at Johnny and he gives me a nod while swinging his bat to connect with the guys face, dropping him face first on the floor. The soldier struggled to get up, but was cut off by me grabbing his hair, and putting my knife on his neck.
"It's over Claire, you lose." A fimilair voice from the halls shouted. I look up and seen my friends on their knees, while soldiers have their guns trained on their heads except for Johnny and Dylan. The room goes silent as a woman with curly light brown hair, wearing a long black coat with black boots walks in. Maria Robbins, she's really here.
"Don't come any closer or I'll slice his throat!" I threatened her while driving the knife closer to his throat. She slowly walks, stops, and grins.
"Now!" She yelled while quickly drawing a handgun and shooting the window behind me. A voice comes from the walkie on the desk.
"Roger that." Before I can utter a word the sound of glass shatters from behind me, knocking me and the solider on the floor. I feel dizzy and the feeling of something wet starts to go down my arm and back, with a stingy sharp pain.
I look at my shakey left arm to see that it's my own blood, that's the wetness I'm feeling, caused from glass shards being inside of me. Tears start to come down my face as I try to move my arm. I turn my head to the right to see one of the solider who wasn't in the room at first, taking off a black rappelling harness. He must've bursted through the window behind me.
"I'LL KIL-" I heard Johnny yell but was cut off by Dylan's crying and screaming for something to stop.
"Line them up." Maria demanded her men. One of her men drags and places me next to Olivia. Fighting through the pain, I manage to get to my knees and look at Johnny preparing to swing his bat at two of her men. We make eye contact and he stands down. One soldier grabs his arm and the other yanks the bat from his hand. The soldier holding his arm brings him towards us and sets him down between Sam and Simon.
A crashing sound from the outside the windows is heard and we all know what that means. The horde broke through. I stare at Maria as she goes over to Dylan who is rocking back and forth, crying, and mumbling something. She pulls his arm and he stops. He looks up at us confused and scared. He then looks at his mother and she tells him.
"We're here to save you my son."
