Bad Feelings

"Do you think there will be people inside?" Ellie shrugged starting up the generator, "I don't know." Aurora frowned staring at the tall hotel it's quietness made her feel uneasy, slightly overgrown and old. "I hope Tommy is here or around here." Ellie stood up taking in a deep breath, "He'll be fine, Tommy's smart." "It's not him I'm worried about, it's everyone else in this city I'm worried about. Is it done?" Ellie nodded looking down at the generator a small yet triumphant smile on her face, "Let's find ourselves a wolf." Aurora nodded going back over to Shimmer while Ellie walked over to the gates keypad typing in the code once again. Aurora climbed onto Shimmer's back riding her over to the gates opening waiting for Ellie.
"It looks like something out of a horror movie." Ellie laughed climbing up in front of Aurora riding through the gate. "I don't see anyone." "Or there waiting for us. Keep an eye on those windows." Aurora stared up at the large building noting the large spray painted wolf on the side Ellie noticed as well. "WLF. That makes sense." "Washington Liberation Front. That's a dumb name. It sounds like something from one of those shitty military movies." Ellie smiled then stopped Shimmer from walking any further, "Did you see that, infected, just hopped that fence."
Aurora's eyebrows furrowed her eyes scanning around, "Shouldn't we hear gunshots or something? Grunts, talking, screaming for all I care? It's just silence." Ellie looked around her face contorting into confusion, "I don't know what's going on, keep your eyes open." Aurora nodded, pulling out her knife hopping onto the dumpster then right over the fence followed by Aurora both landing into the tall grass. Aurora crouched down beside Ellie staring at the hotel entrance for a moment listening. The only that could be heard was the soft sounds of growls coming from the infected.
Both crept towards the front entrance, the sounds getting louder and louder. Before Aurora could react a runner cried out walking around a corner. She held her breath creeping towards it praying she could reach it before it noticed her and thankfully she did. As quick as possible Aurora shoved her blade deep into the infecteds head, an uncomfortable squishing sound erupting from it's head. Blood fell onto her hand and ground her shoe stepping into the small puddle as she crouched down again looking back to Ellie who'd taken off towards another runner in the other corner. Aurora stayed crouched running into a side room behind the desk meeting a wall of drawers and keys hung onto the wall.
She searched a few drawers until another runner came beside her crying to itself a backpack hanging off it's shoulders. Aurora hid behind the wall waiting for the moment to grab it, her breathing quickening forcing her focus on her breath trying to calm herself when it finally came close. She jumped up forcing her knife right through it's throat, and quietly setting it down onto the ground watching it twitch before fully dying letting out one last croak.
A sudden screech startled her the sound of gunshots ringing throughout the once silent room. Aurora bolted out of the room pulling her gun out from its holder. Ellie stood right in the entrance shooting at the runners who screeched when noticing Aurora sprinting right towards her. Aurora shot hitting one in the shoulder then aimed once again slightly shaking. She took a deep breath and pulled the trigger once again, the bullet flying right through it's head, the body falling down onto the ground right after. The other came from her left, Aurora turned, aiming the gun once again, this time hitting it first shot in the skull leaving it to bleed out on the floor.
"What happened?" Aurora huffed, wiping a couple specks of blood from her face looking at Ellie with a slightly amused face. "The two eating at the body got pissed dude." Aurora giggled, still catching her breath watching Ellie walk over to the body leaned against a chair. "Ugh, this one's fresh. It's got one of those wolf patches too." Aurora scrunched her nose taking a better look at the body seeing its guts and intestines hanging from its body. "Gross man." Ellie got up turning to look at Aurora, "If those fuckers that killed Joel got attacked by infected-" Aurora cut her off, "They're still dead El, probably pretty gruesome too judging by that one's appearance." Ellie huffed "I'm not sure that's justice." Aurora wanted to say something else but decided not to.
