𝐇𝐞𝐫 feet dragged against the cement as the rain poured down around her. Her small legs splashed with a crimson liquid slowly melting into small puddles behind her back, her once pure white stuffed bunny now soaked in red dangling in her little hands. Aurora's thoughts were scrambled as she walked, the everlasting image of her father dying replaying over and over again in her mind as she wandered down the empty road.

Her eyes drifted to each and every house she walked by, some blue, some red, and even some green. The sky was a sickly gray, clouds covering the once shining sun. The smell of wet grass and cement invaded the air and her nose.

She never stopped not even when the rain did. She never stopped not even when she wandered past the still runners crying to themselves wondering if that's what he would look like now. She did stop when she heard a man's voice though her fear rising more then she thought it could go.

"You alright there kid? It's a bit dangerous to be wandering out here all alone." A man with blonde hair spoke from a porch of a rickety, gray, house. In his right hand he held a rifle, in his left a small bag of chips. "I stopped for a snack and was about to get up but I couldn't help but notice you wanderin' down the road. You want some?" He reached his hand holding the chip towards Aurora. He nodded but she stood still not moving.

"That's ok I'm sure you would rather have your own bag. I have more in my backpack" The man laid the rifle against the house and reached towards his backpack pulling out a bag of potato chips. "Here you go." He stood up slowly and set the bag down at the top of the stairs leading to the house before walking back to his chair. Aurora examined the man once more than turned to chips, her stomach grumbling with excitement and her mind at war with itself.

Aurora walked forward cautiously watching the man like a hawk, finally reaching the porch she grabbed the bag quietly and sat down on the steps. She tore the bag open with ease hungrily digging into the chips, "My name is Tommy." He spoke. Aurora didn't spare him a glance though she just continued to eat. "I was with my brother but uh, something happened." Aurora paused looking at Tommy. "Is he dead?" Tommy was taken back at her bluntness "No we just got into an argument. Where are your parents?" "Dead." That was all Aurora said as she sat there, knowing half of that was a lie.

A little white lie.
