The Return of the Brick Fucking Master

3615 words

"Fuck look out." Ellie pulled Aurora close to her, a clicker exiting a building just in front of them walking straight towards them, then it exploded a large boom scaring both girls. Aurora's eyes went wide looking at Ellie, "did that thing just explode?" Ellie nodded, "It's an explosive trap, if there's one there's probably more. Watch where you walk." Aurora looked around stumbling, staying as close to Ellie as possible. "Two more!" She pointed in the direction of two runners coming their way sprinting right at them. "Over here, run them through the trap." Aurora and Ellie got behind one of the traps backing up as the runners came closer heading straight into the trap exploding it into pieces flying past their heads. The one only had it's legs blown off leaving the top half of the mangled body crawling towards Aurora.

Ellie went forward stomping on it's head, brain matter splattering onto the cement. They walked in the path the runners took watching for the wire's that would set off the traps entering another open area. A doorway to their side a fence around it leading out to a drop. Ellie went out first Aurora following seeing the large drop. "Were gonna have to go down this aren't we?" Ellie nodded looking at Aurora seeing her nervous expression. Instinctively her hand raised to her shoulder while looking down. "The entire area's pretty cut up. We'll just have to take it slow and stay close." Aurora sighed looking back at Ellie biting her lip. "Let's do this." They walked over to a small patch of grass a mud pathway down. "There is no way we're going to waltz down there." Ellie didn't say a word taking a step forward sliding straight down.

"Ellie!" "I'm fine, just slide down on your back!" Aurora got down on her butt pushing forward sliding just like Ellie did standing up when she got to the bottom. She groaned looking at the back of her pants. "Great, my pants are screwed." Ellie chuckled turning to the small river running beside them walking in the direction it was running. They began their light job again, careful not to fall into the water. "So like, what if Leah is gone when we get there?" "Don't wanna think about that right now." Aurora nodded looking away back where they'd come. "We should put trip wires around Jackson, dealing with the hordes and stuff could be easier." "Yeah, that'd be smart." "But, blowing up innocent people isn't. Thought, we could totally make some signs to warn them." "What if they can't read." Ellie asked, smiling at Aurora.

"We can draw pictures of like, someone stepping into the wires and then blowing up with fire and shit. Totally would work. "I met a guy once, friend of Joel's, trip wired a whole town." "No way!" Ellie laughed turning around to look at Aurora once again nodding. "Yeah, name was Bill." "So like how'd people get around? Or did he just like, blow up everyone. Was he a serial killer by any chance?" Ellie laughed again, shaking her head. "It was just him." "So like all on his lonesome, with an entire town? Must've been lonely." "He had trust issues." Aurora frowned watching Ellie jump over a broken wall onto a small hill leading downward to more water. "That sounds sad."

"Kept him alive." "But it's so lonely, no friends or people to have your back. No one to talk to, being alive doesn't mean living it's just existing. Like another monster existing but not living." Ellie jumped down into a small river running across, "You take the risk though?" "Even if it killed me, I don't like the quiet, I get in my head too much, I'd end up being more of a threat to myself than anyone else. Besides what if he got hurt or sick, that is some lonely last moments." Ellie shrugged running up the hill. "What if someone else got hurt or sick? Then you have this added, you know, burden that just puts you in a worse position." Aurora shrugged, still frowning looking at her feet feeling Ellie's eyes on her.

"That's true but, I'd rather comfort someone dying then be alone. I wouldn't wanna die alone with no one to remember me or miss me. It was like I was just another monster. I don't like thinking about it." Ellie frowned and looked straight in front of her, spotting a strange drawing. "Hey look." Aurora looked up and raised an eyebrow, it was a drawing of a woman with her arm raised shadows standing behind her. The words 'FEEL HER LOVE' in white paint above that. Ellie stood beside Aurora staring at it. "What do you think it is?" She shrugged. "Someone that wants people to feel her love I guess. She's definitely a cult leader." "Cult?" "A group of people usually religious with a strong devotion to something in particular. An object or figure." The definition came of so calmly it almost freaked Ellie out looking back at the drawing.
