Bakugo's POV
"I can't believe we're letting him go."
"Seriously! He's more of a menace to society than a hero in training."
I suppressed the urge to lunge at the U.A. infirmary receptionists and kept walking past the waiting area and out of the school hospital.
When I 'won' the festival, I was shackled to a massive block of concrete and forced to accept a shitty medal.
I was transported to the school and chained down to a hospital bed, where I stayed until, after several angry phone calls from my mother, I was discharged.
School had let out about half an hour ago, and the halls were completely empty.
After grabbing my backpack from my locker, I slumped onto a bench in front of a large floor-to-ceiling window, which I used as a backrest, and whipped out my phone to text the hag.
out of the hospital and omw home
Just before I hit send, something outside caught my eye. Looking down upon the front courtyard, I saw Y/n grab hold of a branch and begin climbing a cherry blossom tree.
I fought off a smile and revised my text.
out of the hospital. Won't be home for a few hrs
After sending my message and shoving my phone to the bottom of my bag, I headed for the stairs. By the time I got outside Y/n had scaled the tree up to a branch that she currently sat on, swinging her feet about.
Headphones over her ears, arms flailing rhythmically, she belted out lyrics like no one was listening.
"Nobody's perfect! I gotta work it! Again and again 'til I get it right!" she shouted shamelessly.
I strolled over, and because her back faced me, she didn't notice me and kept singing.
"Hey," I greeted, though she didn't seem to hear. "Hey!" she continued wriggling about and singing along.
Getting frustrated, I tugged at her skirt. "WIND BITCH!"
This apparently startled her, because she lost balance and fell backward onto me. Luckily, my body broke her fall, but unluckily, I lost my balance.
We tumbled to the ground, her landing face-up on top of me. My heart - my rebellious heart - pounded against my chest.
Y/n scrambled up off me and offered a hand, which I declined.
Getting up and brushing myself off, I restored my features to my usual scowl.
"What the hell were you doing up there, idiot? You need to be more careful!" I berated, pinching my nose bridge. "Are you hurt?"
"Nah. You?"
"I'm fine," I dismissed, though I could already feel a bruise forming on my butt. "What are you even doing here?"
"Waiting for your crazy ass," she said. I could tell she was trying to be nonchalant about it, but her pink-dusted cheeks betrayed her.
"Let's go then! Tch!" I grabbed her hand and hastily led her off-campus.
"I'm coming, jeez!" As I turned a corner, she stopped, looking perplexed. "Um, Bakugo? This isn't the way home."
I realized we were not on the same page.
"Oh...yeah. Okay, um," I took a deep breath, hoping it would calm my nerves. It didn't. "Do you w-... want... YOUWANTGODATEME!" I blurted.
This only confused her more. "Um... what?" she asked.
"Go on a date with me, dumbass! Right now!" I demanded. I refused to break our eye contact, no matter how much my heart raced.
Y/n stepped towards me and flung her arms around my neck. "I would love to," she smiled.
Sighing with relief, I pulled her into a hug, which we held for a moment.
"... Are we gonna go, or..." she said, her voice muffled by my shirt.
"Let's go!"
