My eyes opened, and a mash of blurred colors greeted me.
I blinked a few times, and once my vision cleared, I saw my mom standing over me, cardigan wrapped, mug in hand, and reading glasses perched on her nose. A retracted chin and a cheesy smile were the cherries on top of her display of mom-ness.
Feeling a heaviness on my chest, I looked down and saw Katsuki nestled between my breasts, still fast asleep.
I hurled him off of me in a bought of panic, and he landed on his back at my mother's feet with a thud. "Ugh, what the-" -seeing her shoes, his eyes widened in fear and dart up at her- "Oh god."
"Mom! You're...home early," I said, feeling my cheeks get hot.
She chuckled. "It's 10 pm."
Katsuki stood up suddenly, his face also red, and strode to the door. "Then I should get going. My mom will wonder where I am."
"Wait, Kat-!" I began, but he had already seized his jacket and scurried away, slamming the door behind him.
An awkward pause followed his abrupt departure, in which my mom beamed at me happily. I could tell she knew how embarrassed I was, but she didn't care and wasn't afraid to talk about it.
"Stop looking at me like that," I mumbled, feeling uncomfortable.
"Like what?!" she said innocently.
I rolled my eyes. "You know what," I dismissed.
"Don't worry, I'm not mad," she assured as if it wasn't obvious.
I knew having a smothering mom is better than having a strict one, but it didn't make her excessive devotion any less suffocating.
"I know."
I started towards my room, but I stopped at the foot of the stairs at my mom's voice.
"He seems like nice young man." I realized they'd already met when she let him in. "A bit rough around the edges, but nice."
I chuckled, my gaze getting lost in the carpet steps as I thought of Katsuki. "You could say that."

A week later, it was time to go to our internships.
The class of 1-A stood on a train platform listening to Mr. Aizawa reiterate our instructions for the last time. It reminded me of a bus of first-graders being lectured about good behavior on a school field trip.
"And everyone has their costumes?" -we nodded- "Good. You're not allowed to wear them in public yet. Don't lose them."
"Gotcha!" Mina cheered.
"'Yes sir'. Speak properly Ashido."
She slumped. "Yes sir."
"Everyone mind their manners. Get to your platforms," he dismissed.
"Yes sir!" said the class in unison.

I hopped off the train at the stop specified on the directions Mr. Aziawa handed out.
Yaoyorozu stepped off after me, as well as a girl from 1-B named Itsuka Kendo, who I met on the train ride.
We were all interning with the same hero: Uwabami, the snake hero. I chose her because I have a long history of being...less than likable, and I hoped her pristine reputation would rub off on me.
After a short walk, we arrived at the designated address, which turned out to be a TV station. We told the receptionist why we're there, and a squirrely-looking assistant was summoned.
Giving all three of us a thirsty observation, he escorted us to Uwabami's dressing room.
Weirdo vibes.
He opened the door without knocking and announced our arrival. "Madam Uwabami, your interns are here."
"You girls make yourself comfortable."
A majestic woman sat at a vanity table touching up her making. Uwabami wore an elegant plum dress that hugged her curves, and lots of gold jewelry, all of which were snake-themed.
Her shiny blonde hair was held in an updo by a large clip that featured three snakes that haloed her head.
I plopped onto an expensive-looking velvet couch, while my peers stayed standing.
Uwabami turned to address us, but she seemed taken aback by me. "Not that comfortable L/n," she chuckled, but her bright gold, reptilian eyes pierced me with irritation.
Blushing at her dominating glare as well as her beauty, I leaped up and stood by Yaoyorozu and Itsuka.
"So, what are we doing at a TV station?" Itsuka asked.
"Hero's are allowed to have side jobs, which is what this is. I'm about to film a commercial, and you three are going to tag along."
Itsuka slumped. "Oh. I was hoping to see something more action-y."
"No! This sort of attention is something you can't avoid if you're a pro!" Yaoyorozu declared. "Besides, she was kind enough to offer her wisdom to an unworthy student, so I take every lesson she has to give!"
"Okay, but is there anything we can do while you film?" I asked.
"Do you know why I chose to recruit you three?" Uwabami prompted.
"It must be because you saw such heroic potential in us!" Yaoyorozu exclaimed.
"Of course. But theres another reason."
I looked at her curiously.
"You're all very cute young ladies,"
"Huh?!" we gawked in unison.

"Easy curls with just one spritz! Unari Hairspray. Come on ladies, ride the waves!"
The commercial ended with a slo-mo shot of Uwabami flourising her hair.
"Well they put that together fast!" a pleased-looking Uwabami remarked.
I gulped back the urge to hurl. "I look so weird! Why did we have to be in it again?" I asked.
"Oh, don't worry! This is just the first cut, so it'll be another month before it airs," she said, completely ignoring my question.
"It's so weird," Itsuka giggled. "We're gonna be on TV!"
"Please don't remind me," I sighed, sitting on the green room sofa to ease my nausea.
It didn't help that I was exhausted from yesterday. It was kind of surprising how tired I was, considering all we did was follow her around, watching her pose for magazine covers and go on podcasts.
I didn't even bother checking my phone before flopping into bed, but if I had, I would have known that Midoriya was in danger.
That the hero killer was hell-bent on destroying hero society as we know it.
