We sat down on the picnic blanket as the sun neared the horizon. Vibrant splashes of blood-orange bled through the blue-gray sky.

It was a quiet evening except for the chirping of crickets and the sound of leaves rustling in the occasional breeze.

Katsuki took a wooden cutting board out of the picnic basket and began arranging slices of cheese, meat, and stem of grapes on it.

"Did you do all of this yourself?" I asked.

"Yep," he answered quickly. Too quick.

I picked up a pale pink satin napkin that was folded to resemble a rose, skeptically examining its exquisite detail. I looked up at him, then at the napkin, then back at him.

"No, you didn't."

"Fine, I had help, if you can even call it that. Mina demanded to assess it and ended up changing a whole bunch of stuff. But for the record, it was fine before!" he added defensively.

I chuckled, "I'm sure it was lovely before."

"Now you're just patronizing me," he sulked, looking away.

I plucked a grape from its stem and held it up.

"Hey Kat, try catching this in your mouth," I said, throwing the grape through the air in an arch.

The fruit bounced off the head of an annoyed Katsuki and fell to the ground.

"Aw, c'mon, work with me here," I said.

"No! You're trying to make me look stupid, jumping around for you like a puppy."

Damn. Called out.

"Well I'll bet I can catch more than you," I said.

As I hoped, he shifted towards me reluctantly.

"Give me your worst."

We went back and forth catching grapes in our mouths (Katsuki keeping score on a napkin), until the stem was bare.

"I win!" Kat exclaimed.

"It doesn't count if it falls out of your mouth," I said.

"Fine, I'll give you that point, but I still win."

"It's not about winning, it's about the principal." I looked at him knowingly. "You of all people should understand that."

"Tch."

A small smirk lingering on his lips, Katsuki laid on the blanket with his hands cradling his head.

I rested beside him and gazed at the sky. The sun had set, and the navy sky sparkled with stars. Their twinkle was muted only by the warm glow of the lights strung around us.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Kat staring; not at the world around us, but at me. My cheeks stung with warmth from the sensation of being watched.

"Why are you looking at the sky? Don't look at the sky. Look at me," Katsuki said.

My heart fluttered, and I obediently shifted to my side. When I did, I was met with a kiss.

He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me on top of him as he pressed his lips against mine.

They were soft, and their warmth sparked my lips. His tongue slipped into my mouth, making my body tingle with a wave of needy ecstasy.

Then, he pulled away.

"God, it's really hot," he said.

"What do you mean?" I asked, his almost uncomfortable expression perplexing me.

"I mean it's really hot. I was cold a minute ago, and now my palms are all sweaty. Can you not feel it?"

"No, I feel fine. Are you sure it's not just the heat of the moment?", I smirked.

"Ugh, shut up."

I laid down on his chest, and he played with my hair. When he ran his fingers through my locks, a few strands would be gently tugged, making a sporadic tingly sensation on my scalp.

I shivered, and a wash of calm came over me, and my eyelids got heavy. Though I wanted to continue kissing Katsuki, sleep pulled at me, and I let it draw me in.

As I drifted off, Kat said, "It's gone."

"Hmm?" I replied hazily.

"The heat. It's gone. Now all I have to stay warm is you."

"Hmm."

"You're at home. You're safe. Sleep well."

Katsuki's warm lips brushed against my forehead so softly I would wonder if it was just a dream in the morning.

"I love you."
