Shen regretted that he had not considered the possibility that they could quickly deal with it in time and had not booked the hotel rooms. It was now a little after midnight, still not too late to get a good night's sleep, but too late to wake the innkeepers and ask them to rent rooms. Had to follow the original plan to spend the night outdoors. True, the consideration that there might be snakes here somewhat burdened his rest.

Al started the fire again, the dark woods felt more comfortable, but not enough for Shen to stop worrying. Trying to drive away the disturbing thoughts, he stroked the gray ball of wool now lying in his lap. Gradually, the spirit completely relaxed and warmed itself near the fire, and stretched out to its full length, showing short legs and a large fluffy tail. Shen partially considered the muzzle when the spirit bit him on the finger, but now he had the exclusive opportunity to even touch the cold wet nose of the little gray animal.

System called him the "wheaten wolf," although he didn't look particularly like a wolf yet. The legs are too short, and the muzzle has a too long elongated jaw full of small sharp teeth. But Shen thought he was cute anyway.

«It seems that Al has a competitor...» he thought, grinning.

Gradually Annis moved closer to Shen and even began stroking the wolf with him.

«Right, until I come up with a normal name, let it be Volchara[1],» Shen decided.

Annis was already sitting so close that she was leaning her shoulder against him. Despite the dust of the trip and the hard day, she still smelled pleasantly of a flower Shen did not know. The Lord of Meladicted Peak decided that there was nothing too reprehensible in such a thing as long as they were not alone, and he let her lean back like that.

But Al had a completely different opinion. He stared at Annis as if he wanted to incinerate on the spot.

When Shen finally noticed that hard look, it dawned on him what he was doing. Well this is the main love interest of the protagonist! Even if she just sat so close to him to pet a cute little animal, the main character can interpret everything much more wrong! Damn it! His thoughts rushed about. How easy is it to get out of this difficult situation?! Finally, it dawned on him:

"Al! Do you want to hold Volchara?"

Al perked up, emerging from his waves of hatred and resentment, and looked at the teacher in surprise. And he already stood up abruptly, forcing Annis to purse his lips in displeasure.

"Volchara?" Muan asked.

"Well, yes, I named it that."

"Named? This is not your pet!"

Muan's phrase prompted Shen to think that he was just about to have a dog. The thought inspired him.

"So - do you want to?" again he turned to Al.

"Yes!" he exclaimed emotionally.

Shen thought it was an ideal plan: he gives the animal to the main character, the main character moves to him to stroke this fluffy fur again, the teenagers are happy - the balance is restored!

He went up to Al, sat down next to him and tried to put Volchara on his lap. Exactly what I tried. Because as soon as Volchara felt that familiar hands were about to release him, he again grabbed Shen's finger.

"Ough!" he commented.

"Painfully?" Al immediately alerted.

"Don't worry," Shen chuckled. "And thanks to your medicinal artifact, it's like a mosquito bite. But it looks like letting you hold it won't work..."
