She died.
What should he do? Leave? Stay? Call for help?
There is no difference.
As if this situation weren't enough, it started raining. The sky itself, apparently, was on the side of the criminal, washing away all possible traces.
Shen let go of the dead girl and got to his feet. As if to spite the owner of the Cursed Peak, they found themselves at the edge of the road leading to the lecture hall. And exactly at the same moment as Shen realized this simple fact, a branch snapped to the side and a man appeared from the forest.
His light robes contrasted clearly with the surrounding gloom. The rain was getting worse. Muan Gai stood in front of Shen. In his right hand he held a bright white umbrella.
The Lord of Black Lotus Peak stared at him for a long time. Muan looked from Shen to the girl's corpse at his feet, and then looked up again.
"Are you okay?"
"What are you doing here?" Shen asked instead of answering.
"Heart... something was out of place," Muan chuckled with a corner of his lips, following him with a gaze. "So I decided to take a walk."
Given the orgy of incomprehensible pianos in the bushes, Shen was ready to take it for a coincidence.
"Have you seen anyone here?"
"Nobody."
"Well..." Shen paused, looking at the girl's corpse. "I think you are unlikely to testify of my innocence before the meeting."
"I didn't see what happened," agreed Muan.
Shen chuckled wryly, as if he confirmed some of his thoughts.
"What to do?" He asked, looking up at the Lord of Glory Peak.
"I think you can use hot tea," Muan
decided with another glance. "And I'll inform Lord Zag about the next murder.
"No..." Shen said, taking a step back. "He'll think it's my doing... And you... think so too?" Do you want to trap me?
Muan frowned at the drenched Lord of Cursed Peak. Rainwater flowed from his black hair, and his lips were the color of his silvery gray robes.
"I just said I didn't see what happened. I didn't accuse you of anything."
"Yes? Okay... Okay..."
"Come with me," Muan took a step toward him.
At the same moment, Shen backed away a couple of steps.
"No. What for?"
"Because I'm cold even just to look at you!" Muan snorted irritably.
"It's yours - don't look. I've found some clues, I need to check them out."
"In the middle of the night?! In this form?!"
"In what other form?" Shen did not understand. "Look." He took a piece of paper, soaked to the bottom, out of his pocket. "Here are the notes. It bears the personal seal of Letis Lis. She is involved in this whole story. Maybe even involved in the murders!"
"Why suddenly? What is this dirty lump? You can't make out anything on it!"
"Why do you not believe me?" Shen was angry. "I would not blame her unfoundedly!"
"That's what you're doing now."
"You know what," Shen shook his head, as if trying to collect the scattering thoughts, "I don't care. I didn't need your help from the beginning. Follow healer Zag. Let me know what happened here, I don't want to waste time on this."
