Al Luar tripped over, stumbled and flew rolling down the mountain. Miraculously not having rolled neck, he hit the trees and sharp stones several times, and fell on a moss clearing far below. Not immediately the boy realized that he was still alive. Warm blood flowed on the head and cheeks. Hands sore so much that it was impossible to move fingers, everything blurred before the eyes, and a nasty trickle of blood came out of the mouth.
All he could was to somehow roll over onto his back and stare at the rapidly darkening sky. The pearl blue was replaced by a deep blue, bright stars appeared. Al Luar lay on the wet moss for so long that he could no longer feel his body. He was very detachedly thinking that his whole life had naturally come to this moment. He fought for so long, but all that was left now was to accept his fate.
In his mouth, the taste of blood mixed with the sweet aftertaste of candy, which, as he expected, he tasted just before the death. Why did teacher Shen give them to him? And why did he come back for him at all? Didn't he really want Al to die here? Once again, replaying the teacher's actions in his mind, Al was now ready to admit that this assumption sounded like the truth. But Shen still continued to be so intimidating that he would rather run away into the forest than stay with him! Too much pain was caused by this terrible man! Al began to shake as soon as Shen was near.
Wolves howled nearby. «Strange that only now, - the boy thought distantly. - That only now the beast has smelled fresh blood.»
Of course, he did not realize that the laws of logic were not written for the main characters, and luck was twisted to the maximum.
Therefore, the wolves and Shen appeared at the clearing same time. Throwing a glance at Al and turning pale, Shen threw all the wolves away with one stroke of the sheathed sword and rushed to the boy. With a whine, the moonwolves - rather frightening monsters of the Tiger Trail - crawled away.
Shen turned whiter than snow as he checked the wounded boy. «What the heck?! This was not the case in the novel! Don't tell me that my actions have made it worse!»
But they did.
«But he is the main character! He can't die now, right?!»
System said nothing. Lost in panic, Shen began to do the only thing that he could now - not sparing his belly to share his life energy with the boy.
Al absently watched that wolf howl give way to plaintive whine and next to him got down on knees teacher Shen. His silver clothes reflected moonlight, and he looked as a deity descended to Al from heaven.
Now, before dying, Al didn't feel any fear of this person at all. He was able to watch at him with calm eyes, look into that incredibly gorgeous face, pale and sophistically, as if carved from jade, look into those eyes burning with a furious black flame with strange golden sparkles. Al was like ugly duck near a beautiful divine swan: awkward, grimy, not particularly pleasing to the eye and so weak!
