"What did you do?! What did you do?!" screamed Muan Era.

She awaited their return on the garden terrace, and was horrified at what she saw. Water dripped from the clothes of both. Muan Gai was holding the unconscious Lord Shen in his arms.

"Brother!! Just don't say that you entered the source this way!!"

"I had no choice," Muan said, somehow embarrassedly hugging Shen to him. "He fell into the water of a dead lake. He would have lost his gold core. I... What would I say to Leader Shian? Yes, how would I justify myself before the Leader?.."

The garden fell into silence.

"Come here, stop standing there!" Era rubbed her face wearily with her hand.

The last time she saw her brother so confused was when he accidentally injured himself as a child while training with a sword. Blood gushed in all directions, and he stood in the same perplexity and asked her what to do.

"Is he even alive?" just in case, Era specified, looking at Lord Shen's limp thrown back face.

"Yes!"

"But could the golden core have suffered so much from bathing in dead waters? For an immortal cultivator, it shouldn't be so dangerous."

"He's a special case," Muan muttered gloomily.

Era looked at her brother, but he didn't continue the thought.

"Well, we need to change your clothes. Let's start with the guest. You have shown excellent welcome, brother! Do you have any idea what you've done?"

"Don't tell him!" Muan demanded fearfully.

Era gazed at him closely.

"If I were you, I would worry not about him..."

"Please, sister! It would be extremely embarrassing if he found out."

"Are you worried about his convenience or yours? I don't understand."

Muan said nothing, and Era added:

"It's impossible to hide it, brother."

"Possible," Muan objected. "It will be possible to hide it until death."

"And then?"

Muan was confused.

"Shut up and help me!" angry, he demanded.

Era just shook her head disapprovingly.

The girl was sitting next to Shen and carefully peering into his face when the disguised Muan returned. Without moving her eyes, she said to him:

"Brother, why are you so worried about this human? I do not understand. Do you owe him something?"

Muan sat down opposite her.

"Well... the League Leader asked me."

"So you are so tormented for the League Leader?"

"No, but..." Muan quickly objected, but stopped short without finishing.

"Why don't you hate him like before? And why did you say that the dead waters of the lake could be so destructive for him?"

"This is not my secret, sister. And I have no right to give you an answer to this question," Muan replied, ignoring the first of the questions.

"This person is kind of strange," Era said thoughtfully, reaching out to Shen and running her fingers over his forehead, removing a black strand of hair. "We talked very little, but I feel like he doesn't look like an ordinary cultivator. There is something in him... as if very different from us."
