I lay in bed
close my eyes
and thoughts of you
swarm my head
I imagine
you lying on a hotel bed
on your back
naked
legs spread apart
arms outstretched
RIGID
I plant kisses all along your thighs
trailing my hand behind my mouth
to your hips
and the tummy you hate
but that I crave
I kiss the soft hair around your bellybutton
and caress the Pac-Man shaped birthmark
on your left side
I pause
sit back on my knees
just to take you in
to silently thank
whoever brought you here
I want to dive in
but also to savor each moment
slow down time
for I know time is fleeting
and this brief interlude is but a gift.
I go back to kissing you
your chest
and broad shoulders
feeling your hands glide
over me
you tilt your head back
as I kiss your neck
running my tongue to
the stubble on your cheek
you part your lips
but I make you wait
matching your staccato breaths to mine
green eyes locked together
two bodies made whole
my fingertips on your cheek
your ears
your hair
I paint a picture of you
so vulnerable
and on display
as our lips finally meet
I touch you in the place
that only I have ever touched
