"Call everyone back. We're having an emergency meeting," I told Kai, passing by him quickly as I sped inside the house.
I'd only just gotten back from dropping Ma-Ra off home, our alliance vaguely drafted up on the back of a paper napkin she'd taken with her and promised to email to me in the morning.
"Of course, Boss," Kai followed after me, typing on his phone, notifications ringing out nearby from the EXO members that were already present at the manor. It wasn't long before the rest of EXO's inner circle stood before me in the living room, most of them tired and confused.
Chan-Yeol, who had been the last to arrive, eyed us all cautiously, standing at the back of the room with Tao; he hadn't greeted me when he walked in.
"I've made some changes to some of my plans for the gang. You may not like them, but you're going to deal with them," I spoke quickly and curtly, not giving anyone a chance to chime in
The members graced with me with their full attention, a few of them appearing nervous.
"I've decided to join hands with the Red Lotus," I declared, studying their reactions.
There was no sound or show of protest; they all just stayed stiff, their faces carefully blank, waiting for me to give an explanation. Joining hands with another gang usually suggested weakness and that we needed someone to look out for us.
"Are you sure we can trust them?" Baek-Hyun asked slowly, wringing his hands together, I could tell he was displeased, his eyebrows furrowed as he frowned.
I nodded, picking up a glass of whiskey from the side table before lowering myself into the antique chair at the foot of the room, "Can we really trust anyone?"
Baek-Hyun winced, looking away as I continued,
"We have to keep surviving though, and trust doesn't come into this just yet. The Lotus are our best bet at remaining in the position we are in now, they're an old money gang with years of experience. I've already met with their leader; she has agreed to an alliance."
Chan-Yeol shifted, pulling his phone from his pocket and typing something in it, ignoring the looks that were thrown his way from other members.
"Are the Red Lotus also under threat? I can't imagine they would need another gang's support otherwise," Min-Seok spoke up, his expression thoughtful.
I hummed under my breathe, staring into the bronze liquid swirling in my crystal glass, the ice cubes clicking around, "Not exactly. Do you remember the hit I organised last week?"
"The one on Chan-Yeol's girl?" Kai piped up, a teasing smile growing on his face.
Chan-Yeol snapped his head up again glaring at Kai who offered a sly smile, nudging Se-Hun, the two giggling to themselves as quietly as they could be bothered to be.
"Yeah, that girl," I clicked my tongue, "Turns out she's with the Lotus, in fact, she's related to their leader. I've dropped the hit to stop a war but also in hopes of getting this alliance." I turned my head to Baek-Hyun, "Make sure everyone is aware of the change,"
Baek-Hyun nodded quickly, already pulling out his phone while the other members nodded in understanding.
"Are you all aware of the situation with the Black Aces? Turns out, the man leading them is the father of the Lotus leader—" I continued to brief them.
