Kim Ma-Ra's Pov.
▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎"What happened?" I demanded immediately, looking past Suho at his outer circle members standing further away from us, beside a body bag.
Suho glanced at me, his eyes laced with regret and apprehension, "I'm sorry to call you out so late but I was notified by the patrol that a body had been found...she's one of yours."
A feeling similar to heartburn stung my chest and my stomach dropped slightly; this was becoming a far too common theme, "Do you know who it is?"
We both started walking closer to the body, the nearby sound of water rushing around against the docks making the whole experience a little more daunting. Orange lights hung over our heads, illuminating the steadily falling droplets of snow.
"I'm afraid not, she didn't have any identification on her," Suho told me, nodding to his members as they bowed at us when we neared them, moving out of the way.
One of the outer circle members immediately rushed away after being dismissed, leaning against a container and gagging.
"It's quite severe, Ma-Ra," Suho warned me, standing to the side and giving me the space to take a good look at the body.
I crouched down, pulling down the zipper of the body bag, taking a good look at the disfigured face. Not matter how long I'd been doing my job, my stomach still turned when I reached my conclusion, "Choi Jin-Ae."
Suho hummed in acknowledgement, slowly crouching down beside me, his phone out as he made a memo of the name. Then, he tucked his phone away into his inner pocket and turned to me, his hand coming to rest on the back of my neck, "Are you okay?"
I ignored him, focusing on my outer circle member. Choi Jin-Ae was no older than twenty; her eyes had been removed and patches of her hair were missing with blood remaining on her head from where the hair had been pulled. Her face was slightly blackened by dirt and the rest of her body was covered in slashes and cuts; she'd been tortured. Even her fingernails were missing and upon further inspection, I found her tongue was missing too.
"How long was she out here?" I asked quietly.
Suho sighed deeply, his grip on the back of my neck tightening briefly, "The patrol rota changes every two hours, these guys only just started their shift when they found her. That last group saw nothing."
I nodded, zipping the body bag back up, hiding away the girl's haunting face, "Take some pictures for evidence, I'll have someone come and pick her up to perform an autopsy by the morning."
Suho nodded, beckoning over one of the outer circle members he'd sent away, relaying my message to him before standing up again, dusting off his trousers and offering his hand to me.
I ignored it, straightening myself out, turning away from him and starting to walk back towards my car.
"This is the fourteenth girl to end up like this, Ma-Ra," Suho stated as he matched my pace, casting one final glance behind him,
"I know," I told him calmly, tucking my hands into my jacket pockets and clenching them.
Suho glanced at me out of the corner of his eye, letting out a quiet sigh, "I don't want to let this continue anymore. I've lost twenty-seven just on this patrol line, the figures in actual fights surge into the hundreds. You're the one pushing for this alliance to remain so tell me what you intend to do to fix this?"
