I followed behind her at a reasonable distance, my hood drawn low down my face, trying not to draw any attention to myself despite my height being almost a dead giveaway.

I tried to become a part of the crowd, watching as she stopped random people, asking them what appeared to be the same question over and over again before walking on, a cap covering her face.

She glanced back every few minutes, presumably making sure she wasn't being tailed, her hand occasionally going to her stomach before lowering down to her side again.

Then, she entered a side road, turning so abruptly I almost missed it.

By the time I got there, she had disappeared.

I could feel someone's eyes burning into my back, the feeling never once faltering and sending a shiver down my spine.

I made the split-second decision to jump over the fence of one of the nearly houses and use the gardens to navigate the rest my trip towards the main road, hoping that whoever was tailing me wouldn't consider my plan and would leave me alone.

I emerged into the main road from one of the alleyways, feeling some annoyance building in my system at the fact it wasn't anywhere near crowded enough for me to blend in.

Instead, I walked close to the walls, heading for the only open restaurant on the block where I could see an old lady brushing the street in front of the restaurant with a bamboo sweeping broom, her clothes old and her hair pulled back into a neat bun.

"Excuse me," the old lady glanced up at me, not responding, "Do you by any chance happen to know where I can find a place called the Golden Lady?"

She blinked at me before shaking her head steadily, continuing her sweeping as though I'd never spoken.

I sighed heavily, going to keep walking until another voice called out to me.

"Oh yah!"

Something hit my arm, and I looked at the ground where a bottle lid had fallen before turning towards the man that had yelled at me.

He was slouching in a plastic chair on the restaurant's deck, a cigarette between his chapped lips, his Hawaiian shirt unbuttoned almost until the last button and a pair of sunglasses on his face despite it being the afternoon.

He looked so much like a typical gangster from a movie, I almost wanted to laugh at him.

"Yes?" I raised a brow, tucking my hands in my back pockets.

"You're looking for Golden Lady?" He used a Busan dialect that was rich, his words coming out in a drawl unintentionally as he ruffled his bright red dyed hair.

I nodded in response, "Yeah."

"None of these idiots will know where it is. Come closer, little girl, I'll tell you where to go," He beckoned with his hand, spitting the cigarette out of his mouth.

I wrinkled my nose at the pet name, but I edged closer to the metal bannister between the restaurant and the pavement anyway.

He got up too, his face youthful in the glare of the flood lights, a tattoo peeking out from the back of his neck, drawing out an image of planets smashing together.  He leaned down close to my face, over the bannister, untucking my hair out from behind my ear and whispering, "You're being followed. One from behind you and two across the street, they're fresh meat, so you can outrun them but take the alleys."
